    Axle destroyed

I’m stuck in Libby, Mt for 2+ weeks as the wheel bearing on the passenger side rear wheel failed on my 2016 Reflection 303rls, ruined the axle and threw off my brand new tire (bought that morning) and rim in to the forest somewhere! Being told this axle is not available any longer. Seems a later axle for the 303 should fit. Anyone had to replace their axle? Where you got it, how long did it take or any other help is greatly appreciated. Wondering if I can order it from somewhere else that would be faster than GD or Lippert.

We received replacement axles from Dexter earlier this summer. I dealt directly with Dexter's customer service department, and Dexter shipped the axles to the service shop of our choice. I think that Dexter had the axles delivered to the shop in less than a week.

The rim, along with my brand new $130 tire flew in to the forest. Can’t find it.

Contacted Dexter. Their axle is 1/2” longer than the Lippert. Was yours the same length?

It sucks that this happened, no time is good for things like that to happen. If you go with a different axle replacing both is something to strongly consider.

When is the last time you had the bearings checked and packed ? Something else that crossed my mind is if that wheel was so close to failure why didn't the tire shop catch it. Usually auto shops are fast to sell add on work.

Janicee, I moved this thread to the axle section, you might get more relevant replies there

The wheel bearings were replaced in 2017 after all of the GD grease issues. They have been repacked every year....last time in Jan.2019. Have no idea why this wasn’t caught since the failure occurred about 60 miles later.

The original axles on our Imagine were Dexter, so we didn't have any issues like that. I think Grand Design switch from Lippert to Dexter as the vendor for axles in 2017 after the "greased brakes" issues.

Odd timing this happened so soon after.

I gotta think it has something to do with that tire just being replaced. Too much of a coincidence. Lug nuts too loose to way too tight, caused wheel to wobble on the drum. Not sure but it's too much of a coincidence.
