Installing a B&W Gooseneck hitch and Anderson adaptor for my GD 337RLS

Two things are driving me in this direction. First I want to use my bed when at home and not towing. Second when removing the Anderson it only weighs 35 lbs and as I get more senior I find my strength is deteriorating. And yes there is a third reason. I need to be able to tow my son's gooseneck trailers for his construction business.

So, I have ordered the following.

    5th wheel tailgate.
Stromberg Carlson VGM-99-4000 Louvered Tailgate GM & Chevy 4000 Series

It arrived this morning and is already installed.

B&W Trailer Hitches 1067 Chevrolet and GMC Gooseneck Hitch

    Bargman 51-97-410 7-Way 90° Fifth Wheel Adapter Harness w/ 9' Cable-Dodge, Ford, GM, Toyota

    Ultimate 5th Wheel Connection #3220

Safety Chains (for Ultimate Connection) #3230

I know some states require safety chains on 5th wheel so I got them.

I will start the installation this afternoon.

    Comments and suggestions are solicited.

Do you have the Allen head socket to torque the set screws on the adapter that goes on the trailer? That’s kind of a tricky deal as it’s a lot of torque for such a small fastener and the shafts on the sockets are usually so long they twist a lot.

I use a rubber stall mat from TSC under the Andersen. Cut a slot in it to allow the B&W ball and chain tie downs to be accessible. When I first used it, the hitch left marks in my factory sprayed in bed liner, though they went away.

I got a magnet at Harbor Freight and mounted the latch control on my pinbox.

I’m very happy with mine. Your back will thank you when you remove the hitch.

I have the exact set-up less the tailgate on my Ford for pretty much the same reasons as you. I towed our 2020 303RLS to Las Vegas for the NASCAR race. I couldn't be happier the way it towed, hooking up, and unhooking.

Thanks for the review of our installation.

My son is coming up from Florida to help me install my hitch tomorrow. So I will be ready for my 337RLS when it arrives.

If you will be doing this setup you might want to pickup long 1/2 drive Allen sockets, I bought mine from Amazon. Name is NEIKO Tools. I can't seem to get an image uploaded.

The B&W Turnoverball is a done deal. I just have to install the wiring harness and the Anderson hitch adapter.

Periodically check those allen bolts. They do tend to loosen over time and if they do, your adapter will just spin like a top on the kingpin. Also as I understand it, Andersen is requiring 60 ft. lbs. on the hold down bolt.
