My question is whether Bill's timing is right with some major RV holding companies' sales rates down around 25%? I see where Van Tiffin's upstart fifth wheel operation has been merged with Tiffin Industries, and the reason for the merger isn't very clear.

I would have thought that Winnebego had no compete clauses with GD top management when they purchased their stock. Obviously not applicable in Bill's situation.

I too wish him well. And yes, there has been some quality deterioration in quality in a couple of different customer oriented RV companies after mergers.

Not sure that's necessarily a bad thing BUT it does sound remarkably similar to the Grand Design startup just a few short years ago doesn't it?

Wouldn't you think that if they were really proud of the high quality product that they would give you more than a ONE year warranty?

Isn't that the same 1 yr/3 yr structural GD offers?.

Looking at the brochure I see the same lack of interior living area storage that GD lacks. With exception of the rear overhead cabinets a couple drawers someplace besides the kitchen area would be nice.
I guess that's what is so frustrating with the big window and big TVs trend. They replaced cabinets and drawers

As someone who fulltime with kids, I would absolutely love that no carpet and seamless slides. The whole carpet under the dining table is a what were they thinking item. And not having to fish legos and other items out from under the slide would be pretty awesome too. You’d be amazed at what can get under a slide. Up to and including a jar of peanut butter.

We also found out that the 310rl which is very similar to 310gk will have an MSRP around $85000.
The really bad news is the first dealer they are going to use in PA is Meyer's RV out of Pittsburgh which I believe is Camping World.

Meyer's is not Camping World. The young Meyer's sold the family dealership to Camping World years ago and that's now the Harrisburg Camping World. He was out of the business for years and then decided to go back in and grew the Meyer's RV Superstores first throughout New York and back 8n PA. He just this year opened up right down the road from where the original family dealership was (i.e., right on CW doorstep). What is interesting is that Meyer's is GD's highest volume dealer.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, its probably a duck.

Looks like just another RV manufacturer building the same stuff with the same labor force, ending up with the near junk stuff most towable RVs are.

What would really be different is someone with real vision building RV's that are truly innovative. Thicker side walls with better insulation, wire looms that are clearly labeled for identification and trouble shooting, fiberglass or lightweight composite roofs and sidewalls (including the framing) to create strength without adding weight. Spend some time with real RV owners and design things with their input in mind.

There is nothing new about doing the same things as everyone else.

A few things that quickly come to mind on the Alliance is they install a water catch pan with a drain to the outside underneath the water service panel. Also the wiring is color coded so that an owner can trace wires. They also offer disc brakes as an option. They have incorporated many suggestions from RV'ers on their FB page. At this point, I would have to disagree with your early assessment of Alliance.
