2019 285BHTS Cargo Open To Living Space

I've got a 285BHTS and have a weird issue. The awesome storage area in the back is actually open air to the inside of the camper. There's a sizable gap where you can stick your hand through. Since this is an outside access storage area, this doesn't seem right to me.

The dealership told me that the other one of these that they had on the lot was the same way, and that it was part of the design. I told them that can't be right.

I reached out to Grand Design with the information and below pictures and they responded that this is by design and intended to let the conditioned air from the camper into the storage compartment.

That doesn't seem right to me. You store all kinds of stuff in your outside access storage areas, and they should be completely sealed from the inside of the camper, right?

Thoughts? Anyone have this same design issue?

Nope, it's the way they all were.

The doors are heavy, sealed, and insulated, so as long as you keep the door closed, no heat loss.

    That model has been discontinued.

Thanks. Do you know why it's been discontinued?
