2020 303RLS real world dry weights

    Hi everyone,

The wife, daughter and I are seriously looking at the 2020 GD 303RLS. We have been going to dealerships and looking online and on youtube for several months. My question is does anyone here have any real world dry weight numbers? I know most manufacturers dry weight numbers are BS. I have no idea or not if this is so with GD, but I know we cannot trust the sales people, lol. We will be close to full time, so we need as much CCC as possible. We really like this 5th wheel's floor plan and build quality, plus the lower weight should be great for fuel economy vs a 16K trailer. If you wouldn't mind listing your options I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance for any help you provide.

You could easily be pushing 2,500 lbs. on the kingpin if you're going to be traveling relatively heavy with your "stuff."

Count yourself about max'd out for a diesel 3/4 ton truck.

If you've been going to dealerships, its real easy to know the exact empty weight....look at the sticker on the driver's side front corner.

It is the exact weight THAT trailer left the assembly line.

Add weight for a battery and full LP tanks....

With all the changes over the years they have gotten heavier. Poorer eating habits, junk food, less exercise,.........goodness !

Even though the OP is looking for actual 2020 weights, I thought I would share a copy of our sticker showing just over 9200 lbs. I believe the GVWR is still just shy of 12K.

Wow! You are 700 pounds over what GD web site says for the 303. That sounds high. Did you get all of the options? I have not looked at the 303 but have researched real world UVW for 2019 337RLS and they were 100-300 pounds over advertised weights. I just bought a 2020 337RLS and the UVW is 136 pounds over advertised weight with the only option of free standing table.

    2019 weights

2013 Ram 3500 crew cab long bed
303 RLS With one ac and booth dinette

This was empty picking it up from dealer. If I recall if was about 40 lbs heavier than stated by GD (so with battery pretty close to stated)

Loaded up my rear truck axle comes in at about 6300 lbs. That’s with a spare trailer tire and a few other items in the truck bed for 2 months on the road.

First weight is truck empty and second is truck and trailer

If you want to research real world weights go to rvtrader.com, search for the GD 303RLS and look at the images for each trailer. Some sellers take pictures of the weight tags. I did a quick look and there are some listed. Remember that UVW is what GD weighed the trailer at the end of the production line. When I did the factory tour the scales were in the pdi area and I think it was the last station. If they weigh after pdi then how much water is left in the unit. Could account for variable weights. You might want to look at UVW as a rough starting point in your evaluation. It looks like a good high number might be around 10,000 pound. The number you really need to look at is you GVWR which is 11,995 from GD web site. It looks like the 303 will carry about 2000 pounds of cargo which is a good number to know. Remember you have to deduct propane, battery, water in the system and dealer added options from the 2000 pounds.

The OP states that they are going mostly full time and concerned about the CCC. If the 303 does not provide enough CCC you may want to consider the 337RLS. The 337 will carry about 1,000 pounds more and has more closet space in the bedroom. The down side is the 337 weighs more than the 303 so you will need more truck.

Thanks for all of the responses. They definitely help. If the stickers on the trailers are accurate, that makes me feel better, I just never blindly go by stickers as they tend to lead you astray. I have a couple of friends in other brands whose stickers are off by 200-300 LBS, after allowing for batteries. Maybe they have a few things stowed, or some mods I'm not aware of. That could make a big difference to us long term. TV isn't an issue, we have a 2018 Ram 3500 DRW, with Aisin, 4.10 and 5600 CCC. My wife really likes this floor plan and so do I. We have looked at the 337RLS online and we do like it. The issue is in Texas we would have to get a non CDL class A license as we would exceed 26K GCWR. Probably not an issue, but my wife is not a fan of a driving test with a state trooper watching her with that much trailer, lol. Truth is, I don't want to deal with that either, but might just be in our future. Anyway, sorry for the rambling. Thanks again for the replies!
