How to keep mattress in place

Hello! We just took delivery of our Reflection 285BHTS, and we so ENJOY it! The only think we would like to improve is keeping the queen mattress from shifting on its platform. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to secure the mattress so that it does not slip so easily?

    Thank you & happy camping!

    Hi, congratulations, and welcome!

I'm not kidding when I suggest that the best way to keep the mattress from moving around is to get a bigger and heavier mattress.

A lot of owners soon conclude that the mattress GD supplies with the trailer is junk and they replace it with something else. Before you invest much time in solving the problem you're asking about, consider using the mattress for a few weeks of sleeps and see if you still like sleeping on it. If you do then you can turn your attention to the moving-around problem.

If you don't like it after sleeping on it a few weeks, there are at least several threads here asking for advice about replacing the mattress. Some of the most popular replacements include good-quality foam mattresses (Casper is one manufacturer, we have it and like it) and the expensive but very popular Sleep Number mattress system.

Best wishes for continuing to enjoy the new trailer.

We put an elastomeric (memory foam) topper on our OEM pillow top bed and a nice mattress cover. It now sleeps great. We don't have any slippage of any kind.

Have not had any issues with our GDRV mattress shifting. We did add a 2” memory foam topper, made a big difference for a week away. On a previous trailer, plywood platform and a light bunk mattress without anything to keep it in place we often opened the door to find the mattress on the floor. Solution was to increase the friction of the plywood/mattress surface. An old sheet was wrapped around the plywood platform and I stapled it on the underside to keep it tight. The mattress stayed put after that.

I bought some inexpensive felt, and stapled it directly to the bed platform. Generally speaking, something of a thick pile. We have a sleep number bed, and with it being placed on the thick felt, there is no slipping, sliding, etc of any kind.

That is exactly what we did with our Queen size mattress in our Momentum.....stapled a flannel sheet to the plywood deck and it doesn't move around anymore....

When you get the new mattress
    , it won't be a problem!

In the meantime, a single roll of the anti-slip shelf liner is all you need. Roll it out right down the middle, and all will stay put.

We also added a 2” foam topper from Costco, which adds 17lbs, and a quilted mattress cover. Ours doesn’t move at all and sleeps well. Much cheaper than a new mattress.

Same here. Figured I'd try the 100 dollar fix before the 1000 dollar fix and am very happy with it now.
