    Black tank question

Do I need a water pressure control thing on the hose when connecting to the black tank flush out?

Technically you should use one to protect the plumbing. I don't worry about it because the flush is an open system and the pressure never really builds up.

The one thing I don't know about is what kind of spray head is inside the black tank and would way too much pressure blow it out? I have used hoses at dump stations and they have no pressure regulator. I will suggest you use at least a 5/8 hose to flush. I recently upgraded to a 5/8 hose from a 1/2 and noticed more flush water coming through the sewer hose clear connector. I use a full flow Y connector too.

Have never used a regulator on the flush hose and have never had a problem.

Thanks for reply’s. I’ve decided not to use the pressure regulator. Seems like I get a better clean out.

While I believe you will be fine 99% of the time do look out for those campgrounds that post; "Caution High Water Pressure, Regulator Recommended". I would then measure the water pressure and if over 60psi put the regulator on. Just a suggestion.

That water pressure can change depending on how many people are using the water when you check it. Mid afternoon when everyone is using the water will that pressure will be a lot lower than say in the middle of the night.

I've never used one. But I did have a thought. Why not just screw one of those brass PSI regulators to the end of the black tank hose? Leave it on all the time as a dedicated precaution.

Does everyone else know what those are? We pulled in late to an overnight stay last summer and our spigot had one on it. We thought the owners had put it there, so we didn’t remove it. It leaked like a sieve, so we only turned on the faucet when we wanted to use water. Turns out, previous campers left it behind. In the morning, owners told us we could remove it and throw it away. Never saw one before, and do they come in different pressure ratings?

Most of the "fixed" ones like that are designed to keep you between 40-50 pounds. There are adjustable models.
