    Accident while traveling advice

We are looking for advice from others who have had an accident while traveling. We took our tow vehicle out tonight and were hit by another vehicle. With think our truck is totalled but need to wait for insurance to review. The problem is we are about 12 hours from home, in the middle of nowhere in Kentucky (Land Between the Lakes), and are not sure how to go about getting our Solitude home. I'm looking online for companies that tow 5th wheels. Or do we try to store it somewhere, rent a car to go home and regroup where we can buy a new vehicle without preasure? How have others in this situation handled this?

PS, we are both sore and shaken, but ok.

    Glad to hear you're OK!

MANY years ago we were in a similar situation. Crazy as it sounds, we bought another tow vehicle and continued our trip.

Glad you are ok. You are within a reasonable distance from Indiana where the majority of RVs are made. There is a good chance there is an RV delivery driver within a reasonable distance from you. Might want to call a local dealer where you are to see if they know any or even call GD and ask if they can reccomend an RV hauler. Might cost you a bit, but you'll get the RV home.

I have worked, part-time, for a hauling firm called Horizon Transport. They are based out of Waukarusa, IN. Like a previous poster said, a lot of new RVs are shipped out of Indiana; this company does a lot of this work. I don't know if they can help you, but perhaps they can assist or get you referred to someone and get you on so that a driver can pickup your rig and move it to where you want it delivered, safely and efficiently. If it's the other guy's fault, you can add those charges to your claim for damages.

Best of luck, Mark. I'm glad you all are OK.

Glad no one is hurt. Even though I don't facebook there is a facebook page where everyone networks and helps each other for emergency situations. Maybe you can find that and work out a chain of transfers.

I would also put this question to your insurance company. They might cover the cost for you. Glad everyone is okay!

We don't Facebook either so don't have a way of checking out that network. We thought about the GD route also since we are close to IN, and thought they might have someone in their network.
We did request a quote from a site I found online called WeWillTransportIt. They just called with a quote.

Mark & Linda - GDRV uses Star Fleet for transporting their RVs to dealers. Here is their site if you wish to get a bid from them.

    https://www.starfleettrucking.com/

The question of what to do or whom to use in a situation like yours or others has come up a number of times on the forum over the years. Forum members asked to establish a list of transport options but it never came to fruition.

Good to hear you both are fine.

Glad you weren’t seriously injured. I’d definitely work through your insurance company as they may have a preferred vendor to pull your rig.
