I - 75 south of Detroit

For those getting ready to head south out of the Detroit area do yourselves a big favor and go over to US 23 south. Between Detroit and Toledo there are lane closures (down to 2 lanes ) then the 2 lanes split, one to stay on 75 and the other to head to 280, The delays that added on was much more time than the extra 10 mins it takes to go over to 23.

I suggest 696 to 275 to 14 to 23. 75 is much bumpier than the last time we took it which was over 2 yrs ago, today is the last trip we take on that section until they are done with construction. On the plus side they are laying new pavement so eventually it will be smooth for a yr or 2.

It was a real mess, added at least 40 mins to the ride. Probably longer. And the traffic was pretty light ,not heavy. Was glad we had installed new springs , the rough road would have done the other springs in for sure.
Then we hit another detour trying to get on 80. If those weren't enough delays we got caught by a train near a train yard (when we got off 80) with no go around , waited so long I was able to take a short nap. Our short 3 hr drive ended up being 5 hours. : Mode off

But we're safely tucked into our tiny site ..time to have fun!
