Thanks for the info everyone. First I need to pick up a socket for my impact wrench. Thing is I need to find a 7/8 with a small OD because there’s not much space between the nut and the counterbore in the wheel. I hope this works...

When I took the wheels off my new 268bh, I took them to Costco for Ford TPMS sensors, balance and nitrogen refill. Bought new lug nuts there.

Are you sure your lug nuts take a 7/8" socket? Ours (2018 Solitude 310GK) and the lug nuts on almost all other 7,000# RV axles I have seen take a 3/4" socket. Just asking.

That's the size needed to fit over the caps which stirred up my original question. I suspect the nuts under the caps might be 3/4" but not sure since the caps aren't removable. All I have at the moment is a 7/8" 12-point deep socket (not an impact socket) so I don't dare bang on it with my impact wrench. Perhaps I should order both a 7/8 and 3/4 deep impact socket. Thanks!

Use that socket and a breaker bar. Then get the right impact socket to fit your new one-piece lugnuts.

As others have said, if you buy a new socket, make sure it is a 6 point (not 12 pt). Most impact sockets are 6 pt.

Understood, however in my case I cannot find a 7/8" deep impact socket with a small enough outside diameter to fit down inside the recess in the wheel (not sure if I'm describing that good). I do have a 7/8" chrome deep socket that fits (that has a smaller OD); I'll have to use that with a breaker bar.

I bought this one because it was advertised with a 1.1" OD which would have worked, but when it arrived, the OD was actually closer to 1.25 so it wouldn't fit:

    Hi Gary
Add me to this list. 3 of the caps came off during tire removal.
Replaced with solid lugnuts. Not a cheap replacement, about $110.00.
If the caps came off while changing tires in an emergency beside an expressway
it could be a problem I do not want to deal with.

Are you talking about the flimsy caps on the lug nuts or the cosmetic hub cover? The caps don't come off the lug nuts - just replace the lug nuts with some decent chrome one like @Always Learning suggests. The cosmetic hub cover comes off when you remove the wheel (there's a flange behind the wheel holding it in).
