What brand DEF do you use?

I saw this DEF at Walmart and it’s about half the cost of the stuff I usually get.

So now I’m curious what other folks use in their trucks.

Whatever comes out of the pump at the Pilot station.

I figure they use plenty of DEF at those diesel pumps so that it will be fresh.

I know I’m the odd man out and hope I don’t get hosed for this. I have used only MOPAR DEF. I’ve been in auto service for many years , and I don’t want a dealer tech saying I have a DEF issue caused by contaminated fluid. I do get it at a discounted price since I own an automotive repair shop.

I mainly use whatever is at a truck stop. If I buy it at a store, I go for Blue DEF. One thing to watch out for is store bought DEF with tampered seals. On the Powerstroke.org forum there have been numerous reports of people buying DEF at a store and the seal was tampered with and the container was refilled with water and returned. This was mainly at Walmart, go figure.

I use this also out of the box or will purchase at the pump if filling at the truck stops. For what it’s worth I don’t price shop the fluids that go in our trucks I do what I feel is best quality as the problems caused can be very expensive. Also when buying containers of product make sure the factory spout seal is intact. Some issues as the discount retailers with folks returning apparently “unused” DEF containers to unsuspecting clerks with tap water in place of the DEF the thieves put in their trucks. Also for the Peak brand, there is a way to determine the date of manufacture imbedded in the printed code on the box to ensure fresh product. Product beyond a certain age can damage the SCR system. The YouTube video I saw on the date code was on the “RV Project” channel.

I use the WalMart Def and have been for 4 years. I also bought a refractometer https://www.amazon.com/Refractometer...s%2C153&sr=8-2
and test every jug before dumping in the tank. Never had a bad jug. I just make sure the the seal is intact.

The Walmart DEF is manufactured in the same plant as the BLUE DEF and the other DEF found at the truck stops. Same stuff, different container, way less money.

From what I hear, Walmart no longer will take returns on DEF so that should curtail that practice. However I still make sure the seal is intact.
