Canal COE in Grand Rivers, Ky

Has anybody camped at Canal COE campground in Grand Rivers, Ky.

Yes. We stayed there last year about this time. We really liked the location. Need a few boards to get level, but great view out the back of the camper.

Right across the lake from Canal is our favorite park - Eureka. The only problem with Euraka it is only open Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Canal is nice I would recommend it. But most COE parks in KY are nice

Canal is our go-to campground when we have a long weekend. We average 4+ trips there per summer.
The campground is well maintained and folks are always friendly. We enjoy the close proximity to the town of Grand Rivers (grocery store, drive in burger place, Patti's settlement (should reopen soon), theater, ...)

Patti’s is why I asked if they were planning for next year. Last I heard they were looking at late November for re-opening. Overpriced tourist trap on one hand, but good food and a neat place to stop on the other. Can’t resist the pork chop and coconut cream pie. Pro Tip: Don’t order pie after dinner. You can get a whole pie in the gift shop for about the same as two slices in the restaurant. Coffee and pie by the campfire for three nights!

To the OP, you’ll also be about 25 interstate miles from Paducah. Quilt museum is a mecca if anyone with you is interested in quilting. Standard mid-size city with most all the chain restaurants and retailers. Usually our rainy day activity is a run to Paducah.

Canal campground has been an annual trip for us for probably 15 years or more, from the days when we were camping in a tent, then a pop-up, etc. It's not uncommon to see folks dragging lots of toys with them to this campground and parking them all at their campsite (whether they fit in the driveway or not); golf carts, scooters, fishing boats, etc. Wildlife is pretty abundant. The kids enjoy the beach and the playground, and a lot of the roads through the campground are relatively flat and easy for bicycling. Besides dining Grand Rivers also has some little shops around the Patti's area. In addition to the village of Grand Rivers, you can also head south into the Land Between the Lakes recreation area. Our kids have enjoyed the nature center and the planetarium there.

From all the great responses I believe we will put this on our list for next year.

My DW and I are always trying to look for nice scenic places or places that have wildlife to camp and since we don't have solar its hard to find those kind of places that have electric.
