    External Propane

I have a 2019 solitude 377mbs. Camp site dropped off a 100lb propane tank. I’ve been to 3 different places and no one can tell me how to hook the external 100ln tank into the propane connections I have for my 30lb tanks.

Thanks Gene for providing the answer, got it the stuff bookmarked. I've been thinking about this, may have to get one when we stay up in Northern Indiana part of the winter (Oct-Dec) and run the furnace off a 100 pound tank. I don't think the tank would ever freeze, they say they are good to -44F, that is the tank would still provide vapor. Probably be good idea to use a loose cover just to keep snow off the 100# tank valve. I wonder what a 100# tank rent costs up north? I'll have to ask my son who lives up there.

You can buy the 100# tanks and not have to rent it. It would probably be cheaper to buy in Tx, carry to Indiana, then if you want, you can sell it at the end of the season or take it back home.

Possibly, nice thought, but I am not sure I want to transport a 4 foot tall 100# propane tank standing upright in the bed of my truck for 1200 miles because I really have no place to put it and no way of strapping it in place up against the truck cab since I have a bed tool box bolted to the truck bed up next to the cab. Then the 5th wheel hitch. It wouldn't be practical to transport it.
My son living up in Northern Indiana says I can buy a 100# tank at Lowe's, Home Depot, Tractor Supply and the like for about $130. Refills run about $65. Some of the campgrounds we have checked into up there have propane on site. I have a two wheeled moving cart I could strap the tank to and take it up to the campground refilling station, then back to the RV. Then when we leave that cold climate and travel back to Texas, I could sell the tank to another camper, maybe the campground or some other person. Its possible my Brother-In-Law or Son can store the tank for us for the next year or use it in the mean time. The tank certification is good for I think 12 years. Maybe a little extra cost but more practical.

You never know what the temps could be like up there Oct-Dec. If they get a lot of really cold weather at that time our two 30# onboard tanks wouldn't last long. Oh well still in the planning stage, we'll work it out.

Jscott 23 - sorry to hijack your thread. All good discussion though.
