I just wrapped up what was my first trip with cold weather camping in my RV. I have put together a filter system, similar to the Clear source, but using cheaper canister filters and the CS filter media. I haven't mounted it yet, but plan too once I figure the best place to do so.

What I used on this trip was heated hoses to the filter, which in hindsight. I could get buy with regular hoses and disconnecting after filling the freshwater tanks. But they worked, however they are a pita due to how stiff they can be. I will probably sell them in the future.

For the filter I made a box out of a sheet of foam board insulation I bought from lowes. I placed the filter in that box and taped it shut and did not have a problem. The hoses were warm to the touch and with the water inside the canister above freezing then that kept everything warm enough. A bit of extra work, but it kept me in the water and prevented everything from freezing.
