    Gas lifts basement storage door

I would like to install gas lift struts on the large door on the curb side basement storage area and wondering if anyone has done the same. If so, what strength struts did you use?

I would estimate the weight of the door to be 20 -25 pounds.

You don't like the magnets? I have thought about putting the gas struts on the front basement door to replace that horrible little tonsil catch thing hanging down.

    Marcy,
Replace that "horrible little tonsil catch thing" with one that hold it up. Available at Camping World and likely other places. Comes in white or black. It was one of the first things I replaced when we got our rig. It is a real pain in the head when it just hangs there.

If/when you break that thing hanging down, when you replace it mount it the other way: put the hanging down part on the door and you won't catch it again.

Magnets work OK but in most cases opening the door to just over 90 degrees works fine for me. I may also put them on the front door with the hanger.
