I have an INCH pound torque wrench and a different torque wrench for foot pounds. I am not sure if they make a torque wrench that does inch and foot pounds both.

Yesterday I got an answer, because the warranty was up in July and I had not maintained the sealant of the unit they denied any help to fix the problem, this ceiling was soaking up water long before the warranty ran out, but, because I could not prove that I checked the sealant every 3 to 6 months, denied.
I was not aware that we had to quote "clean-up and re-sealed "areas of sealant that were done at time of the built even though none of the sealant was missing
dried out or cracked,it is in granddesigns owners warranty manual.
This answer was from granddesign .
I did follow up and mention that I did not believe the sealant was the problem ,because I wash my unit quite often and I pay attention to areas that are sealed for any showing of wear and that I thought the problem was a leaking air conditioner seal, but, just wasting my breath.
So in conclusion I mentioned that I could prove (to the dealer)that I have a "piece of junk coach with a rotting ceiling."

Brian call GD themselves. Let them know about your contacting the dealer and their asking for pictures and nothing else. Let them know you had been waiting for a reply from them that didn't come until the warranty had run out. Worth a try, I have heard more than once of GD stepping up in situations like this.

Just to be sure, and also if someone else references this thread for information. The spec is for INCH lbs, not foot lbs.

QUOTE=242 checkmate;266207]If you have a Dometic ac their specs say 40 to 50 INCH pounds for the ac bolts. A dealer once told me the ac bolts should be checked once a year. That’s most likely your leak. Go to Dometic web site or what ever brand you have and read the instructions for installing an ac unit that can also answer your questions. Jim[/QUOTE]
Brain. I stated in my post the torque spec for a Dometic ac is 40 to 50 INCH pounds. I see you were told 40 to 50 lbs. if I may ask were did that come from? Did you get your bolts set to around 40 to 50 INCH pounds? Iam not trying to pry just hoping all went will tightening the bolts being you were using foot pound wrench first. Jim (checkmate)

thanks,I am now in the process of taking the rv to a different dealer and getting the ceiling panel replaced and checking out the a/c seal and or gasket, they mentioned they will show me how to adjust the bolts.I wish somebody had mentioned to me about checking the bolts, not one word from anybody.

I am wondering if granddesign and or dealers tell some customers these bolts will loosen ,why aren`t torque nuts or lock nuts used in the first place. They still should probably be checked ,but, would save some problems.

In our last three campers we only had one dealer give us a check list of things to watch/check for. It was a list they made and added to the owners manual. Ac bolts, awning operation, filters, caulk, etc. The list was like having a quick guide for maintenance.
