How far do you have to go for storage?

Our storage facility that was 10 minutes from my home is closing so that they can throw up more condos to further congest and already clogged island (sorry had to get that out) and now finding another facility may entail a 50 mile trip each way.

How far away are most of yours? For those of you who have enough land to store next the house, please don't torture me.

BTW this spot was $250/mo for an outdoor, uncovered spot. At least I've done most of the mods I wanted to do.

Our storage lot is about 20 miles away. There are ones closer, but we really like this one. They have free ice, wash bay, air hose, and dump station on site. 24 hour access. They will park our rig for us, if we want. They also have a repair facility owned by the same family and a small RV accessories store. They've been in business for 3 generations. Since, from southern California, we basically only have 2 ways to get out of town, it's more convenient not to have to drive all the way back into "the city" environment when returning from a trip. Our rig is pretty much set up with everything we need, so we just load the truck with clothes and fresh food that we want on the trip to be put in the rig when we get to our first stop.

We pay $235 a month for outdoor, uncovered spot.

Our storage facility is 30 miles away just over the Missouri State line in Illinois.
We pay $70 dollars a month for indoor storage. We also have the trailer set up with just about everything we need and load up our truck with our clothes and whatever food we need for our trips

Ours is 13 miles from our house and is $40.00 a month. It is gated, but has no facilities.

Mine is 10 min away. Secure outdoor storage. Owner is the only one to put them away and get them out. Call any time the day before, and it will be waiting out in front to hitch up to. $610 per year.

Wow! I wish I had some of these great prices back when I had to store remotely! The going rate where I was 9 years ago was $90/month for gated, videoed outdoor storage and 25 min away.

Pro tip: make sure your insurance covers you for offsite storage and get the rider if it doesn't.

Ours is only about 6 miles from the house, gated and covered. It is a 60 ft stall and I park it all the way back so the brutal So. NV sun never hits it. It is pricey though at $260. mo. They are building a new storage lot directly across the street from work. When they open it next year I will check it out and see if I can get a better price for a similar spot. Might even have my choice of an easier spot to back in to.
