    Imagine 2250RK tow vehicle

This may sound like a silly question / situation to some but I’ll give it a try anyway.

My tow vehicle is a 2018 F150 XLT, Supercrew, 2WD, 5.0L V8, Trailer Tow Pkg,
20” wheels, 36 Gal tank, 10 spd trans, 6800 GVWR. Curt model 17500 WDH with
    Integrated sway bars.

Background: Untill a few months ago I towed a 30 ft Heartland Pioneer 2500RL that maxed out at
7,000lbs full. I pulled it at 6800 lbs for about 18 months, 3 of which were consecutive with no issues.
However, I’ve often wondered if I should have purchased the same TV but in the 4wd version.
I have experienced only typical sway (passing large 18 wheelers),etc.

It simply seems that the 4wd chassis and associated parts would provide a more sturdy ride and
provide some additional peace of mind considering I see very few 2WD TV’s relative to 4wd models
causing me to rethink my purchasing choice. My pick up from a dead stop and acceleration to highway
speed seems very safe and “normal” (merging, etc) considering the fact that I have nothing to compare
    It to.

I’ve also been pulling our new Imagine 2250RK for a few months now at 6000 lbs per local CAT scale
    with no issues.

Would appreciate any input, experiences, observations, etc. Thanks in advance.

Yes, I believe 4WD is preferred by a majority for the reasons you stated. You can go even further and add the off-road package... FX4, Z71, TRD, etc... but by doing so will lower your payload capacity.

Yes, 4WD lowers your payload 100-200#. Living in the Northeast 4WD is a given, even my wife has a AWD Subaru. 4WD will not improve your ride but I have used it getting out of some slippery sites while camping. If you want to improve your towing experience I replaced my "P" tires with "LT" ones. It's a harsher ride unloaded but they took all the squirm out when towing.

Pulled the trigger on a 2019 F150 XLT 4WD 5.0L Tow Pkg, OEM EBC, Off Road Pkg, 20" whls, 36 Gal tank, Chrome Pkg, etc. Problem solved. Appreciate your comments and tips.

There are very attractive incentives on some F150's now. I looked at a Supercab, 3.5EB, XLT w/ chrome, tow mirrors, backup assist, max tow, and a few other goodies.
But in the end the payload numbers were not going to cut it. I took the plunge on a F250 XLT gasser. It has more than double the payload of my '12 F150.

Please, don't tow with an F150. You will not know you do not have enough truck till you do, usually in an emergency situation.

Towing a 2250???? If the F150 has a max tow package it'll be within specs. And there are blissfully ignorant people towing 2670's, 2800's, and even larger Reflections with a F150. Now THOSE trailers need a bigger truck.

An F150 is plenty of truck for that trailer at 6000lbs loaded from the scale. The OP is well within his specs. No need for a bigger truck.

Congrats on your purchase. I'm sure you will enjoy your new F150 for many years to come.

I was at the Ford dealer yesterday getting an oil change and walked around the lot looking at all the new shiny Fords, and I couldn't believe the prices of some of the models. One thing that I noticed is not a single F150 had tow mirrors.

    Safe and happy travels.

I didn't want the tow mirrors when I bought my 2019 F150, they are ugly when not towing. I bought a custom fit snap-on tow mirror that works perfect.
My F150 with the 2.7 and trailer tow package pulls the 2450RL without any problem at all. Click image for larger version.
