    Front cap repair or replacement

    Hello Reflection owners,

Wannabe owner here, with the opportunity to buy a 2017 308bhts for under 20k. Unit is excellent shape except for one "minor" issue that I need advice on.

The previous owner hit a tree branch at low speed and damaged the upper passenger side of the front nose cap. The crack/hole appears to be confined to an 8-10 inch area.

I should mention the roof itself look great.

I'm looking for advice before I go forward or back out of the sale. Question for the forum is 2 fold:

    A. Does this look repairable/patchable or does the entire cap need to be replaced?

    B. What should I expect to pay for said repair/replacement?

I will be contacting a dealership next week, but thought I would get feedback from fellow owners as well.

    Thanks
    Jeff

I can only see the photo of the roof. The other attachment links aren't working.

I see all the photo's. Do you have any boat repair shops near you ? That I would think would be fix they could do as they work with fiberglass all the time. One thing I would be concerned about is that hole where water can (or has) already entered the interior of the roof.

It's been under cover so water intrusion should be an issue, but to be sure i also put put my finger through and the insulation feels dry. I also used a borescope to look around inside and the damage appear localized to fiberglass.

Living near Annapolis Maryland I'm sure I could find a boat repair shop.

Yes, start there. To get a new front cap would require a trip to Indiana or outrageous shipping costs to send one from Indiana to your local repair shop.

Thanks for the advice. It certainly looks repairable to me but I'm just not sure how involved the job would be. I imagine the front cap would need to come off for a successful repair.

I live in a place where folks damage their RVs all the time. Nothing like living in a community of large (massively large) RVs and drivers of all skill levels (or no skill levels).....

Minor damages like what you have are repaired all the time. As another suggested, a good boat repair shop could make those repairs and not have to remove the cap. Same goes for a body shop that does fiberglass repairs on RVs. (you just might have to look harder for a RV body shop - there are a lot of those in Red Bay, Alabama if you care to take it there.
