Progressive Industries HW50C Question
Installing my PI HW 50C this weekend. Trying to figure out if I should leave the factory setting (15 sec) delay or the 2:16 Min delay. Instructions say to check owners manual for A/C to see if it has built in delay or not
I checked the owners manuals and it doesn't explicitly say it does or doesn't. Coleman Mach 10 in front, Mach 15 in main living area. Reflection 367BHS
Im leaning towards removing the jumper so it is the 2:16 delay, just to be safe, but figured I'd check here to see what others may have done. Once installed, I don't want to open it back up to install the jumper.
Should I leave at default or remove the jumper and use the longer delay?
Thanks

Really depends on your AC. I went with the longer delay to be on the safe side when I did mine. Also worth noting the portable unit has the long delay with no option to make a shorter delay. Better safe than sorry. It's not even noticeable when you first setup a camp site, there are usually plenty of other things to get done while waiting for the time delay to finish.

When you turn on the thermostat to AC, is there a delay between when you do so and when it turns on? If so, you most likely don't need the extra delay. On our Dometic system, there is an hourglass that comes up in the display when you first call for AC, and it waits for a given time period before turning on.

There is a delay.. certainly longer than 15 secs. Reckon it should be okay either way.
Leaning towards having the added delay just to be safe.

I left mine on default.
I'm not a heavy AC user (once last year) and would never turn it on right after plugging in at a new site. However I've had a few low voltage and misc incidents that tripped the protection. In one case only the rapid clicking alerted me that there was a problem. Fixing things is much easier without a long delay.Rick

Could I ask why the delay is required with respect to the air conditioner. I have the same unit but have not hooked it up yet

It's to protect the compressor. Short-cycling it (turning it rapidly back on after shutting off) prevents the pressure from equalizing, and can wear out the compressor much more rapidly. After it shuts off, you need to give it some time before turning it back on. The internal delay on the AC system is usually more than enough.
