    Ballancing your 5th wheel tires

I see a lot of comments on tires and monitoring devices, but, no-one has commented on getting their tires/wheels balanced. We all strive to get a smooth ride for our RV and add shocks, equalizers, rubber cushioned pin boxes, hanger supports and more. Wheel balance is a big deal and extends tire life and suspension parts.

Dan - this subject has been covered a few times in various threads over the years here. If you conduct a search, you will find some threads/posts. Just understanding the value of balancing given the small price is a valid idea and hard to dispute. However, the vast majority of folks here and elsewhere do not do so with no noticeable or apparent major issues........we think.

Rough roads aside, one could suspect out of balance tires could contribute to some issues we experience such as water system leaks, interior/exterior materials or component issues, and more. Hard to factually determine, however.

Not balancing tires will definitely shorten the life span of any tire.

I balanced the Goodyears when I installed them last year. Figured it couldn't hurt and only took me a couple minutes more per tire while I was swapping them. I work at a Chevy store and used our tire equipment to make the swap.

Interesting thought about out of balance tires causing some issues. I had a pop up camping trailer that on the first few trips I had loose screws, contents moved around, shorted out toaster filaments and crumbled chocolate chip cookies. ( I hate that ). I took the tires to a shop and was told they were way out of balance.
Seemed to help the problem. But like you said hard to determine.

My Westlake tires all needed balancing badly. One required four ounces! I am sure glad I did it.

The way I look at it is, if you drove your truck at interstate speeds for thousands of miles with unbalanced wheels would you expect premature tire and suspension wear? - so what is the difference for a trailer.
