It's beautiful. And it's even easier than I thought, GD really gave us a great router and it's wide open, AWESOME, and THANK YOU! But you don't even need to get all crazy with routing tables or anything like what I spoke about before. It's as close to "dead simple" as it could be.

Step 1: Open up your Togo (uses funny screws, you'll need to get the right driver for it, it's a star drive)
Step 2: Run an Ethernet cable from the Togo to the WAN port on your router (on top of the cabinets in my RV, I also picked up 12V always on power there from the other routers, so this was not at all difficult)
Step 3: DO NOT plug in the Ethernet cable yet! Power up the Togo, and sign up for service. You cannot, for some reason, sign up if your Ethernet port is connected. No idea, their software is like something from the dark ages (Togo)
Step 4: Plug the Ethernet wire from the Togo into the "WAN" port on your router
Step 5: Enjoy control of your RV from anywhere and unlimited Internet from Togo for 360/yr

It's really that easy. On my router, the WAN port (all the way to the right) was blocked with black tape, probably to get people to overlook it and not think too hard about what that port is for (or prevent the builders from plugging the wires in to the wrong port). Just peel the tape back and you'll see the port there. The WAN port is set to DHCP an address and route all traffic to that port, so, the instant you connect Togo to it, it does it's thing and start routing the packets as it should, giving you control of the RV from anywhere.

I'm attaching a few pictures for to try to help others, if you need assistance doing this, just ask, I'll be happy to help. This is my "day job" (networking) so I hope that my experience can help others here. Oh, and yes, you can monitor the temp remotely too, that works great using the OneControl App. I also bought MCM Multisensor, it's a USB stick with a charger that's completely self contained (5/mo for monitoring using it's own cell phone link) and battery protected, so now I have 2 ways to see and protect my pets when they are in the RV.

BEAUTIFUL! Thank you for this information.

I am working on a similar setup and want to put my networking gear in the same location you have yours. Instead of a togo, I will be using a cradlepoint router, and then connect that to the onecontrol router WAN port. I like your idea of moving the router to the top of the cabinets so there's more room inside the cabinets.

Is the hole with the black and white wire going directly to the roof? I need to drill a hole to the roof for the antenna wires, so I'm wondering if this is a good drill spot.

How did you run the 12v power to the top of the kitchen cabinet?

Is it possible to power my cradlepoint router with the 12v that's powering the onecontrol router? I'm sure it is but electrical is not my strong point.

You lost me on all of this, but I don't have the setup you do. What i do know is that my TOGO has quit working several times and needed the power reset to get it working again. So be sure to add the toggle switch in the power line.

I didn't move it to the top of the cabinets, that's where it was from the factory. Yeah, it took me a lot of looking to actually find the darn thing, but made it easy for me to do this mod!

Yes, that hole goes right to the roof, straight through. On the roof, I used some of that special "roof tape" where the wires exit up to the Togo, and then covered the tape edges with lap sealant. No leaks so far and doubt I'll have any. That spot was fine for drilling, I went from the bottom up so I didn't wind up off position, which did require a 90 degree drill to get a bit in there.

12V power was already up there for the existing router, so, no issue there.

And yes, I did exactly that, I just tapped into the existing power for the OneControl router and ran that up to the Togo, works great, no blown circuits. None of these electronics really use much power, so I suspect you'll be fine. Just cut the wire, strip the ends back, and then put an electrical cap on there and twist hard. That's all it takes. For good measure, you can wrap the wires in electrical tape, not a bad idea because of the movement in an RV, but also not really 100% necessary either.

Interesting, my onecontrol router is mounted inside the bottom of the cabinet, on my 2020 351m. It would be nice to have it up where yours is for a bit of extra cabinet space. Maybe I can fish the wire up. I’ll be wall surfing with my endoscope this weekend, so we’ll see. Thanks again for the info, very helpful for my future install.

    That is excellent news indeed.

I have struggled to get mine working in this way--always to great frustration, and now I have renewed hope of success. I have a Forester motorhome that I purchased in March 2018, and the OneControl router also had black tape over the WAN port. I tried several times trying to get it to function as an internal router via the WAN, but as I think back, all of my attempts have been with multiple variables, each with their own issues. Now that I have a stable always on internet router, I think it's time to try again.

    2 Questions:
    - Could you be more specific about the IP domain requirements. I have a Pepwave MAX BR1 MK2 router, and it runs by default on a 192.168.50.xxx domain. Do I need to change the settings of my PEPWAVE or of the ONECONTROL, or both?
    - How do you access the OneControl settings remotely? When I open the android app, the first thing it asks to do is connect to the MyRV_xxx wifi.

    Thank you for your posts.

Ok. So, I had to run out to my RV in the storage lot and try this out.

As I mentioned, this time around I have a working WAN, so a number of variables have been solved since ymy last attempt. With the OneControl WAN port connected to my PePWave's LAN port, I now have working internet through the MyRV_xxx network. At least I won't need to disconnect and forget the Wifi after every use of the OneControl app. This is a huge step forward. Note: I did have to update the TCP/IP default gateway setting of the OneControl wifi router, because it just said 0.0.0.0. Now that it's matched to the router's IP address, this all works. Not sure if this blank setting was among remnants of passed tinkering.

My second question still stands though. The app (even when logged in to an active account) still doesn't seem to work without being connected to the local LAN. I found the OneControl Cloud website, but in order to "activate" a coach, I need a "KCODE", which only appears to come printed on a OneControlAnywhere accessory.

First, the app is written by children. That's all I can say. It's laser focused on jumping to the "MyRV" option if it's available and it always dumps WiFi when you open it, it's a real PITA (and, as a programmer, I can say, really s**t programming). If I'm in the coach, I just let it "jump" to the MyRv network, the way I have mine configured (and sounds like yours too), it works fine for both Internet (via the WAN porn) as well as controlling the coach. I think your passed tinkering is where the WAN port gateway came in, mine was set to DHCP (automatic detect) and worked fine without messing with it. DHCP is the best option here, if not, of course you can set it to the LAN side IP address of your Internet connection (that should be a stable IP address, 192.168.1.1 is a commonly used one).

The KCODE for mine was printed on the cellular modem that was included in my setup. I had OneControlAnywhere in my coach, I just didn't want to pay for 2 Internet connections for the RV (one for Internet, one for the OneControl). I'm not sure if you can do what you're looking to do without that piece though, you may need to buy that to make this work. If you see my pictures, do you have the same number of "boxes"? What are you hooking up to with your Pepwave? I kind of thought that was the cellular modem that I was tying into (sorry, my coach is in for service, so I can't look right now), but, you might be right, could be the local "OneControl" box.

Take a look at the diagram I found posted early in this thread, do you have a "Cloud Gateway"? If not, that's the problem/what you need to get to make this work remotely, my RV already had one. That diagram was invaluable to me in figuring out how this system worked, how the packets flowed, and how I could "intercept" and send them somewhere else. Turned out to be much easier than expected, but that was the diagram I was following to see how this could be done, and, once in the system, realized that not only "could it" be done, but it was pretty easy.

I was thinking that the "cloud gateway" was actually an WAN access point for the router, sharing its LTE connection with the OneControl hub, but now that I look again at your photos of how it's connected, I think it just connects itself to the internet and exchanges commands locally with the OneControl hub.

I don't feel like buying the OneControlAnywhere device, but now that I have the internet and networking sorted, I bet there's a way someone smarter than me could set up a low-power webserver device (e.g. RasberryPi) to do exactly this.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Hi All,

Has anyone figured out how to wireless bridge to the campground wireless or house wireless? Also, has anyone managed to replace the Lippert AP with their own?

    Thanks,

    Dale!

Overtaxed. Does your Togo solution allow you to do wifioverWAN with the campground if you want too or only 4g?

I tried resetting the lippert AP and it still comes up with the connectanywhere splash page when I connect to 192.168.1.2. .1 pulls up nothing, but is pingable. Rather annoying, but I think it may be locked down now.

The other thing I don't understand is how you connect to onecontrol remotely from the app. How does the app know your Togo public IP or does it use DNS to connect remotely? I guess the connect anywhere is registering its host name with internet dns and our app knows the host name?

    Interesting stuff.
