    Generator

I just purchased a 2019 Momentum 351m. I opened the cover to start it using the manual stop/prime start switch but it wasn't powered. Then I went to the one control panel and started it with no problem however there was no A/C power. (microwave had no power). I went back out to the generator and saw that the 2 main breakers were off. Does this mean that each time I turn the generator on I have to go out and flip on the mail breakers? Also, why was the start rocker with not powered? I was not connected to shore power and the batteries were fully charged.

Did you try starting the generator with the rocker? The light on the rocker won't light up until you push it to prime mode. If you did and the switch was in fact inoperable, it will have to be checked. As for the main C/B's, unless they trip for some reason, they should always be on.

Thanks for the reply. I initially tried to use the rocker but when I pushed it down to the stop/prime position nothing happened. Ideas?

Going by memory here, so bare with me. When you pushed it down to prime, the red light on the switch should come on. Then after a few (10 or 15) seconds, you'll need to push the switch up to the start position. If nothing happened, then I would start by checking the connections behind the switch. My 381 is in front of the house right now, but I'm at work (shhh, don't tell anybody I'm on the interweb). Tomorrow I'll look and see if I have any other suggestions. Although, it is warranty, you can make them check it out.

I'll just add that on the rocker switch, you need to press and hold the STOP/PRIME side to prime it. Just pressing and releasing it won't work. Release when the light comes on, then press and hold the Start/Run side until it starts.

^^^^^ This... I was going by memory while sitting at my desk at work and forgot to emphasize you have to hold the rocker in the prime position. Thanks RV for reminding me.

I think a lot of people forget that now that the One Control systems are out. We are REALLY happy that we bought before that was out.

The dealers are bad about turning the two breakers off in the genset panel. Mine was the same way, pulled the cover, flipped then to “on” been good ever since. They are not controlled from the main panel. Get to know them, if you overload, you will need to go to the genset to reset
