Want to get slide toppers...is this a good price?

Got an estimate from the place we bought our 2015 Reflection 323BHS to get slide toppers installed on all 4 slides. They said it would be $2500...is that a good, bad, or average price?

Two slides are very long on your trailer (over 12') and two are 6'-7'. You'd have to take measurements on the length, and Google "rv slide toppers" for retailers.

It looks like the two long toppers would be in the $450 range each, and the two shorter sliders would be $300ish. $900 installation charges seems excessive.

My dealer quoted $600 each for toppers (regardless of length). I'm in no hurry to get them installed without taking time to investigate how difficult they are to install.

we had three put our 355TH 5th wheel, and we paid around $2000, bought and installed. You can do then yourself, but I did not have that kind of time to work on it. YOUTUBE videos....

I haven't looked into slide toppers myself, but I have heard a couple of other people mention a price of $600 each.
So that estimate (for 4) sounds in that range.

I've also heard you can save a bunch by installing them yourself and it is "reportedly" not very difficult.
Not sure I would tackle it though.

You can find the Carefree brand on Amazon.
Dometic is the other major manufacturer.
Just "google" 'rv slide toppers' and you'll get a list of sources.

We get 2 1/2 hours of labor (@ $108/hr) per topper for install.

Cost of the topper and hardware itself will vary by actual length needed.

Based on that and what I have seen for the cost of the toppers themselves...I guess their price is reasonable.

Thanks for the info. I didn't like that my dealer quoted a set price of $600 each--not taking materials cost into consideration. It obviously takes longer to install toppers than I anticipated.

Reference the toppers, we spent a considerable amount of time trying to decide if they were a good idea or not. We have a new 305RE, with three slides. The fact that we did not get the toppers, forces me to go topside each time the slides are closed to sweep them off. That turned out to be a benefit, as there are two areas of one slide that has shown wear marks that will need to be repaired in the near future. Each time the slides are closed, I check those spots to see their condition, as well as the rest of the roof. For the time being, as long as I can do it, I will be climbing the ladder to check those areas. I just thought I would throw this thought out there, for discussion.
