USB mod for bedroom night stands.
I wanted to be able to keep a cell phone charger next to the bed without having to worry about unplugging it everytime I brought in the slide. I decided to install a usb port into the night stands on each side of the bed. I drilled a hole using a hole bit and ran the wire with a clothes hanger to the back bottom where i dremeled a hole and then ran the wire into the bed cavity where the 12 volt supply was. I made an error and cut the wires going to the blue leds under the bed slide. These are powered by a switch in the basement so I would have to leave them on to have power to the usb ports. The other wire goes to the reading lights above the bed and are hot 24/7 so i used these. I am pleased how it turned out.

I just did this mod too. And I thought it was my idea LOL...I put mine in the bed base for ease of pulling wires but it looks like it will be the same functionally.
What bothered me most about the factory 110 outlet was FORGETTING to unplug it before putting in the slide.

I upload images to this forum without rotation issues. Image rotation information is in the EXIF data in the JPEG image file. Try opening the image on your computer with an image editor, rotating it 90 degrees, rotating it back, and saving it. This should reset the EXIT orientation data.

I was planning to do it the way you did, but once I got started, it just hit me to do it that way. I think your way looks better.
BTW, while I was there, I also put in a 12 volt outlet. Just because...
