    Wheel removal

What method is being used to remove a wheel on a 381m e axle. The owners manual does not have instructions for wheel removal. Trying to find Psi stamping on wheel. can only find max load stamping by crawling under unit.

Most of our Owners Manuals do have a section on this. Below is the section copied from the 2018 Momentum Owners Manual page 66 from the GDRV website: What year and model do you have ?

    Tire Changing Basics
    • Hydraulic Jack & Jack Stands are customer supplied.
    1. See page 68, Roadside Emergency.
    2. Block the wheels on the opposite side from the tire you
wish to change. This will prevent accidental movement.
    3. Loosen the wheel lugs BEFORE raising the RV.
    4. Place a Hydraulic Jack on the frame close to the spring
hanger. Raise the trailer until the tire clears the ground
NEVER attempt to use a stabilizer jack to lift the RV.
    5. Set up a Jack Stand under the frame just to the rear
of the tire being changed, then change your tire.
    6. Follow the Wheel Nut Torque and Wheel Installation
instructions provided on the Next Page

You are right I overlooked that section, you sure do need a lot of blocks to get a hydrolic jack in place. Not much room between tires.

Many folks jack under the axle between the U bolts when using a rounded saddle on top of the jack "head" to fit the axle tube or use a hard wood block on top of the jack "head" and spanning the U bolts. Axle tubes are relatively thin and can be damaged with improper jacking. This is a key reason manufacturers state to jack under the frame close to the tire needing changing. 12 ton jacks are doable but a 20 ton would be many folks choice especially with a Momentum.

Travel assistance using road side service is a real good option too !

The Equa-Flex will have no bearing on jacking up one wheel to remove/change a tire. As has been mentioned, just use a block of wood under the axle U-Bolts and a bottle or floor jack. You're only lifting the wheel an inch or two off the floor to get it off the hub.

Thanks for the advice, I used a 2x4 block of wood and a 12 ton jack, worked perfect.

You're very welcome. Were you able to get the information you needed from the wheel?

Anyone ever use one of those black ramps they sell to change your tire with by rolling the none flat tire onto?. I bought one along with using a 2 x 6 board under it so the non flat tire lifts high enough to remove the flat tire. Haven’t had the opportunity to use it yet. What’s your thoughts.

I had one with my previous TT, the taller version of it too. Due to the equalizer between the wheels there was so much allowance for a height difference between wheels that the flat tire didnt move anywhere off the ground when I drove up the ramp with the good tire. I think they are really designed for utility trailers. I had the Trailer Aid Plus if I recall. I got rid of it after I tried it with an actual flat tire, junk. Then I switched to a bottle jack/extension setup by safe jack which works good and I also have a combo jackstand/bottle jack made by power built which I keep in my Momentum.
