If your panel goes through a controller then you certainly don’t need to disconnect the panel when you’re plugged in. Your batteries may achieve a higher state of charge then with plug in only but not to the detriment of the battery.

I use a DuraVolt Marine Battery Charger. Attaches to my pin by magnets. Connects to my Furrion solar port connection through a connection I purchased through Amazon.
