Talked to GD this morning, they just ship it over to MorRyde and get it done there. Not in the GD factory.

If they are willing to do that then maybe they will offer the Morryde IS as an option one day.

Very interesting! That's not what I was told by my contact at Grand Design nor my dealer. A lot of conflicting stories floating around.

I gave incorrect information. Whoever GD front desk passed me to in sales was wrong. We talked to the guy in charge of the momentum line today with the dealer, (they were trying to get a price) and he was ticked it's getting out. They haven't prototyped them on the Momentum yet, and looking late 2020 or early 2021. The Solitude is getting them prototyped now.

I'm wondering if this is internal (not moreryde) disc brakes they're working on.

If morryde not really a "prototype" is it?

When they say "prototype" it's not what you think. In the world of RV manufacturing, it's assembling parts produced by others. Axles, for instance, are usually delivered complete from the axle manufacturer (currently Dexter for GD). That is, have drum brake assemblies. I'd be surprised if as OE they don't just buy Dexter's with the Dexter disc setup. Back to the prototyping. This where they are really fitting everything needed for disc brakes into current designs. For instance, working out standard brake line routing and components for speed on the production line.

Disc brake installation is significantly more time consuming. This fact and tooling and skills needed have to be considered and worked out to reliability produce in mass. For instance, in my production it's an 18-24month process to achieve production readiness once something new comes out of product development.

I was told they are Dexter axles and disc brakes and would most likely be ready this month for my Solitude. Installed at the factory by Grand Design, not MORryde. My 310GK-R will probably be built at the end of this month or early February. If the disc brakes aren't available by then, I'll just have MORryde install them when they install my IS suspension.

    Hi Cadman65,

Quick question. If your only running electric heaters above the floor, how are your pipes doing underneath? No freezing issues? Generally owners will run the furnace some with the du to built in below to keep the pipes from freezing.

Well, it's official we will be part of the GD family. Put the deposit down today. Can't wait to get it in a couple of months. Thanks to everyone for their help. I went with the Independent suspension and disc brakes from morryde, General RV was easy to work with thus far. I hope it continues to delivery.

    Cheers!

I also took down the wall in the passthrough to expose the water pump and plumbing. I put an electric heater on a thermostat set to 70°. Keeps things toasty. It has gotten down to 14° here with no issues.
