Waterton - Glacier National Parks
We are planning a summer trip to Alaska with a side trip to Glacier NP. How are the roads from Glacier NP, Babb Hwy 17, CA Hwy 6 to waterton Lakes NP? Any suggestions for campgrounds for visiting Waterton Lakes NP?

The last time I was through there (5-6 yrs ago), 17 was in pretty rough shape, broken pavement, potholes etc. It’s a very narrow road w/ no shoulders. Stayed at the campground on the west side of the Watertown town site about 20 years ago, it was fine, nothing spectacular but within walking distance of downtown. Be aware it can get pretty windy down there, just about blew the kids tent away w/ them inside!

CA17 / 6 is fine. Did it a few times. The most recent about 3 summers ago. Beat spot is the CA National Park in Watertown. Stayed there and one other private park close by. Unless you HAVE to go to Calgary take the “Cowboy Highway” (6 & 22) to CA1; it’s a great ride.
