Living in SC, it tends to get a bit warm. As previously discussed, DEF degrades at higher temps. As i’m no hotshot trucker, i’m not putting on a lot of miles on. Hence, I only keep the DEF tank filled to around the 1/2 way mark. And I use WalMart DEF. Been working well for me for the last 4 years.

I've been surprised at the responses I see that tell me $12 for a 2.5 gallon bottle is not that big of an expense. When you treat it as a math problem, it tells a different story.

Right now I pay $2.699 per gallon of diesel--that's not a bad price here--so we'll use that.
Walmart def is $7 for 2.5 gallons (less bad that peak, I guess)
Peak is $12 for 2.5 gallons.
    Ram's tank is 5-ish gallons.

So you get 15 mpg--around town I'm getting less than that. A tank lasts you 2000 miles--that's likely accurate based on my driving from PA to TN and around town in Memphis. That's 133 gallons of fuel and 5 gallons of def. Your new / gallon cost:

    * Diesel alone (old trucks): $2.699
    * Walmart DEF and diesel: $2.795
    * w/t Truckstop DEF ($2.90): $2.799--that one surprised me as it's more than the bottles from Walmart
    * Peak DEF and diesel: $2.870
