Had one with my 2500 Duramax standard bed and only used it twice and each time I could have gone without it.

I have a feeling this might be a different animal. I guess 75-80*degree turns are going to be it for my future

Standard bed is 8 foot. Not 6.5. That is a short bed truck. IMO.

    Good lord
Facts are I have a 6’4” bed on a Megacab regardless of what anyone wants to call it.
Looks like there is a couple of good videos on the YouTube about this very topic.

Awareness is key, maneuverability isn’t terrible (75°) and though a slider would help in a lot of situations it appears that much of those situations are little too late before someone actually uses it.

Yep 6foot4 is correct. I pulled my Alfa with a BandW hitch. No slider. And no extended pin box. It works, but as you stated be careful. I sure liked my Mega cab for sure...

Not to be too picky but...

The manufacturers call an 8' bed a "long bed". The mid-sized beds (6'4"-6'10") are called "standard beds". "Short beds" are in the 5'5" range (e.g. Ford Raptor).

    They actually call them
What are the dimensions of a standard pickup truck bed?

A “standard bed” pickup is just over 8 feet in length, and 5 feet in width. A “short bed” is only 6.5 feet long; same width. There are other, “super-short” beds on smaller crew-cab pickups; those dimensions vary.

The depth of the bed varies by manufacturer.

I think this was true 20+ years ago when there really only were two bed lengths and 90% of the trucks were 8' beds. Today I'd guess 90% of the trucks sold are standard beds (6' 5" ish).

Good video and looks like this guy learned the hard way but between the wife and some practice with the new set up we should be good to go.

My slider with my chevy took some time but by then I memorized what the maximum turn looked like in my mirror based what the trailer looked like I was golden. I’ll do much of the same in controlled areas while we learn.
