    tv cable question

Dummy me, I disconnected the input and one output coaxial in the basement of my 310GK and didn't mark the origin of the cable. Now trying to connect it again, I'm not sure which one is input and which one is output.

One cable comes from under the floor across the living area and one cable goes up thru the wiring area. Can anyone enlighten me as to which one of those two coaxial cables is the input for the basement tv connection?

    Thanks in advance.

wish I could help but I have never looked. I guess just take a swing at it. You have a 50/50 chance of being right. Or wrong....

I agree. Just hook it up and reverse if it doesn't work.

As others have suggested, nothing will blow up if you get it wrong. However if you want to increase your odds of getting it right the first time, isn't the highlighted portion of your post above a hint?

Sounds like that first cable is probably the one that feeds the TV connection on the opposite side of the basement, while the one going through the bundle of wires up into the living area may be the one that splits somewhere up there and feeds your TVs in the bedroom and living area? Another possibility is that the first cable may split and feed the basement TV AND the bedroom TV.

Contributions from the wild-assed guessing department; hope it's useful.

That should be Scientific Wild Ass Guessing since you used an actual process to arrive at a potential conclusion. LOL

Or get a coax tester. Various ones available at big box hardware. Klein tools is what I have.
