Microwave Vent Mod.... Maybe Not As Smart As I Think I Am...

Two weeks ago I vented our microwave to the outside (nice to GD now does that from the factory!).

Then last night, in 45 degree weather, the DW turns on the microwave while I'm sitting in the recliner on the DS side slide out and I start getting a draft. Maybe this outside venting isn't such a good idea!? Maybe we need to open a window to let some air in on a controlled basis? At least the vent works!

So is GD venting the microwave on all models now?

They have them now on the 2020 Solitudes. Not sure about other models.

Yes the 2020 Solitude has a vent BUT it must be closed during travel and it is crazy high. Clueless as to how we’ll do that! Considering trying the kitchen roof fan instead.

What's the consequence of leaving it open? I was told the same thing, but after dealing with it the first time I stopped. Mine has been open and I have at least 15k miles on my trailer, no issues or any evidence of water intrusion, even with plenty of rainy travel days.

There’s the risk of the flapper being torn loose. On a previous camper we’ve lost two flappers. The design on the Solitude seems to be a bit more enclosed. Thank you for your input.

Consider getting one of those extendable hooks that are use to pull down outside window shades like on Motorhomes. That is what I used in the past. The vent I installed is a different type that is more enclosed & never came off in the 60k miles I put on previous camper.

I have a 2020 Reflection(300RBTS) and NO vent yet? I don’t think they have started putting them on the new reflections yet.
