Heck for $120 one can buy a cord built with 90 degree plug

    https://www.amazon.com/Mighty-Cord-A...137500&sr=8-27

Seems like one should be able to buy a 90 degree plug and replace the plug on the factory 50 amp cord. But, can't find one.. at least not on Amazon.

I know more people with boats then I do campers, and I've been doing the latter for decades! Lol. Every boater I know relieves the strain with a rope tie off to a rail or deck cleat.

In addition to the strain on the connector, a related issue that concerns some is the strain on the cable itself. The linked product looks great for the connector issue but doesn't resolve the cable issue.

Camco also has a cord with a 90 degree plug. The Camco cord's plug looks to have a sharper as opposed to sweeping 90 degree turn which may put slightly less leverage (strain) on the receptacle. It also has a handle on this female end too but not really necessary. About the same price.

I do like the idea of a cord with the 90 degree built in as opposed to an adapter. Cleaner with one less connection to corrode. Just not sure I want to spend the bucks since I have 2 cords already. Maybe I can sell them on craigslist.

    Grrr,

I have a 25` and will likely need more. A 10-15 extension seems easy. But why should I wrestle with a 25 when I only need 10? It's incompatible connectors!

A detachable cord sounds good until it prevents basic cable use! Every cord in your house plugs into every other device. If they do you have some potentially serious issues!

I was also concerned with the strain on the receptical on the camper. I saw another camper using a 90 degree adapter from Park Power. They make a lot of the marine fittings. Found one for about $80.00 on line.

I took a whole different approach and moved the whole darn thing. We have a 2019 Momentum 349. I have no idea how other GD campers are configured but I had all kinds of room behind the Nautilus panel and a big area underneath between the aluminum skirt and frame. I made a box out of 3/4 plastic material and located it underneath. I ran the electric thru the floor behind the Nautilus panel and reconnected the original twist plug up in the box. The cord now hangs straight down.

I have used the SmartPlug for years with no issues. Connecting the cable is way easier but I still do not like the bend in the cable. The steel covers have a prong as 3rd locking tab to secure the power plug but the black plastic only have the two side tabs. I like Tibbs' mod and my look into something like that for my 351m.

If you look at this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

on CAMELCAMELCAMEL, you will see that it can regularly be had for <$35

I paid $31.36. Mine hangs at perfect 90 degrees. I would send it back if it were off.

I love mine and use it all the time. That said, do a search here, someone had one short out, so they are not perfect.
