    Southern California recommendations

Looking to plan a trip from Reno to SoCal for one week. Any recommendations other than Disney or Seaworld. We like antiques, animal parks and other unique places.

    Thanks

So many questions but let's start with when? Also, Southern California encompasses a very large area, can you be more specific? A reasonable and central location to Orange County and San Diego County is San Clemente State Beach but you need up to 6 months advance to make a reservation. Now we cab usually find a spot there with short notice in the winter months. Summer months are really tough down here but also doable if you search. Far south in San Diego (Chula Vista) is a very nice almost resort like KOA. It is within shot of the Zoo, Safari Park, Sea World, etc. but probably 1 1/2 (to 2 in traffic) hours to Disneyland. The San Diego North County State beach campgrounds are primarily dry camping with a few sites each with EWS but pricey and extremely hard to get reservations. There are other places but here's a start.

There is a campground off of Gopher canyon, on old 395, in North Escondido, Also one off Nordahl in Escondido, off the I15. Both are nice and seem to be easy to get reservation...Both are convenient to lots of attractions..
In Pomona, LA county, this is a park you can get into usually

For antiques, I can say that Orange, CA (about 6 miles east of Disneyland) has lots of antique shops.

We are about to take a big trip out west in April. Planning on hitting San Diego for a week, mostly for the Zoo and explore the area. Yosemite / Sequoia, because they are amazing places and we have never been. We are also going to hit Vegas.

    Have a safe trip.

Another vote for San Clemente State Beach, sometimes if your checking often you can find a cancellation during midweek during the summer. Another great spot is further inland in Temecula, Ca. They have great antique shops, wineries and fairs. There are lots of RV Resorts in and around the area.

Our favorite weekend get away is Pechanga RV Park in Temecula, Ca. It's run well, bathrooms, showers, swimming pool are all clean. It's next door to the Pechanga Casino if you want to gamble, eat, or see a show. Plenty to do in the area., I agree with TahoeTrekker.

We were recently at Pachenga. It's a nice resort, and well located for things in the area. Only issue I had was my (Verizon) phone didn't work, at all, in the RV park, but did 3 miles down the road in town.

There's a darn good breakfast/lunch place in the "circle" there too.
