Keep the speed down to 65 mph, and use cruise control. For the trucks that I have owned and pulled a trailer with, 65 mph seems to be the sweet spot for speed/mpg. Slower will be better mpg, but try that on the freeway. Over 65 mph, and my mpg gets worse a lot quicker then below 65 mph. Any modifications to the truck, like bigger tires, tuning the truck for more power...etc will have a negative effect.

Don't forget about the TSD Open Road Discount Fuel Card / program for use at truck stops.
BIG savings available. Sometimes better than a non-truck stop station.Larry KE4DMG

I tow my 278bh with my 2.7l. In the Appalachians I got 9.5 running up and down the mountains. Running hills 10-11. Flat roads 11-12. I tow between 55-65MPH. 60 MPH is where my fuel mileage starts to fall off. I also limit the transmission to 7th gear when I get to the hilly areas.

With our other trailer Sonic Lite 160VRB averaged 12.6 mpg on our trips. With the new trailer bringing it home averaged 11.6 mpg same 2014 Tundra 4x4 5.6 using tow mode and at 55mph.

We're working with 10 mpg towing for planning purposes. We've not towed enough to get a solid number, but since I fill the truck after each day's towing we're pretty close. This compares quite well to the 7.5 mpg we got with the motor home. Unfortunately, the truck doesn't come anywhere close to what the Lincoln MKT towed got (22 mpg overall). We're making it up on maintenance costs, though.

We get 10 mpg give or take with our 2015 F-150. Going up the Black Mountain or Fancy Gap grades can drop it by a couple of mpg or when going down raise it by a couple of mpg. The same with head and tail winds. We towed our first travel trailer with a 2001 Explorer and it too got 10 mpg when towing. The distance between fill-ups is night and day between the two vehicle though. I don't regret getting the 36 gallon tank in the F-150 no matter what the pump reads after a filling it.

Around 10-12 mpg in my F150 on average. I drive right around 62-63 mph or 100-102 kmh. Any faster and it wants to downshift to the next gear and my mileage is far worse.
