New to diesels and cold weather ops

Yeah, I have the heater. Actually I thought it was almost pointless because I'm likely to need it most where there's no outlet to plug into. There's an outlet in my garage but it rarely gets below freezing in there.

On our new Ram we bought it here in Texas, it said it did not have the block heater. Well I found out all cummins engines has the block heater installed, they just don't attach the cord to the heater. Ram wanted something like $300 for the option , which is the cord. I bought one off Amazon for cheap. Just plug it onto the block heater and run it out through the bumper. Silly Dealers.

Maybe other manufactures do the same?

I did the same. The OEM from Amazon was $95. Took about 1 hour and no special tools required. I used an installation video off YouTube.

I have an 2018 Chevy 3500 LTZ Duramax that has the engine block heater and I can't find the cord. Although there is a recall on it right now and they say not to use it, there is a fix for it just waiting for the dealer to schedule.
