Tow vehicle question
I'm planning on getting a 310GKR empty weight 12100 GVWR 15000 empty hitch weight 2350. I have a 2020 2500HD TD GVWR 11350, GCWR 27500, Max trailer 18500. The vin trailer tag says max payload is 3048. If the hith is Figuring 250 for hitch, gas and passengers are 650. It doesn't look like I can pull it even empty. Any comments. Is anyone pulling 15000 pounds with a 2500hd

There are people doing it... but that doesn't make it a good thing. 2,350 lbs. is the unloaded pin weight. The actual loaded pin weight is very likely to be well above 3,000 lbs. Clearly in 1-ton territory. If you use the search function on the forum and/or go to the library, you'll find lots of reference material and threads on this topic.

I've gone to the F350 dually, diesel. Bigger brakes, more carrying capacity more towing capacity. We spent many years with F250's and, as we traded 5ers, we had to upgrade the truck.

In my opinion a 3/4 ton truck is not adequate for a fifth wheel of that size. You will likely be exceeding payload, truck GVWR and RAWR.

Tow vehicle question
My Reflection fifth wheel weighs 6K# less and I tow with a 3/4 ton. You’ll be about 1,500 pounds “over” your rated payload capacity.
I see people doing that all time.
(Doesn’t mean they should)
There’s a guy sitting next to us right now with the exact same truck I have and a 40’ fiver.
He says “with that 6.7 diesel it tows so easy”.
Most people don’t seem to care about being over on payload. It’s not like you can tell if you have Timbrens or bags.
Most people feel that as long as you have a diesel you’re fine.
I would worry about his truck tires blowing out.
I’m not sure what effect carrying an extra ton in the bed would have long term.
I’d go with a dually one-ton myself.

You’ve got lots of good advice already that you should upgrade your truck; I’ll pile onto that.
We’re towing a 310GK with an F350 SRW (single rear wheel). IMO it’s just enough truck. I have often wished I didn’t listen to the salesman who talked me out of the F450 that I went in to buy.
The F450 is only a little more money, and it’s official GVWR numbers aren’t so much better than the 350, but it’s a lot more truck with better brakes, better turning radius, and important stuff underneath that’s overbuilt more than the 350 is. It is rated low to keep it in the pickup truck class, but is very capable of more. The 2020 - if you’re going to be looking at brand new ones - also has a 10-speed transmission and increased horsepower and torque to match many of the semis on the road. It’s not TOO much truck, it’s a heck of a towing machine and the truck you want to buy if you don’t want to be wishing for or needing (if you upgrade your trailer) another truck anytime soon.Mark - 2018 Solitude 310GK - 2017 F-350 diesel SRW short box - Pullrite Superglide hitch

350/3500 for sure .... SRW is fine with the right one look for GVWR of 12300 that will get you the payload you need .... or DRW good to good ... BIL pulls his 310GK with his F250 and some air bags he is over and does not care does not nean you need to be .... I believe there are 1000's of 3/4 ton over weight trucks towing across the nation ... later Frank

I pull our 310GK with a Diesel SRW F350 (GVWR 11,500#). Truck & trailer in signature. I consider it it the min truck/max trailer for this combination. Our 310GK has no options (no generator, washer/dryer, dual pane windows, etc.) so pretty much the min. I typically carry 20~30 gallons fresh water and we pack moderately light. We typically camp for 4 to 6 weeks at a time. My typical numbers (loaded - from multiple CAT scales over 2 years)
Truck (full tanks, B&W Companion hitch, hard tonneau cover, wife & i, with trailer)
front 5,220# (5,990# FAWR)
Rear 6,420# (7,230# RAWR)
Total 11,640#
Trailer
Pin 2,880# (already included in truck rear axle weigh)
Axles 10,700#
Total 13,580#
UVW 12,283# (from dealer. battery & full propane. Otherwise empty trailer)
Just my numbers. Your numbers will vary. I am comfortable pulling the trailer, but I also feel I am maxing out the truck for capacity and margin. You have to decide what you are comfortable with.
My F350 diesel payload rating is 3,253#. From your 3,048#, I assume you have a gas engine. That sounds about right for a 3/4 ton.

Greetings, 1st post.
DW and I are also interested in the GK310-R model. So glad to have found this particular post about TV and Trailer. We have a 2016 Ram 3500 6.7L 4x4 Diesel SRW Short bed, factory airbags, Pullrite slider hitch, with a max cargo capacity of 3607. Stopped by our local dealer today and saw the 310GK-R model and instantly fell in love with the trailer. It feels like a home on the inside. The unit we looked at today has a UVW of 12292. Looking at the numbers I see posted above, it appears we'll be within load capacity although will be close to reaching that max payload if not careful. Unit has no washer/dryer, no generator and no dual pane windows.
Currently have an ORV Glacier Peak F26-CIS and we hit the road for 2+ months at a time and don't carry a lot with us, packing moderately light too. Looking at CoChris numbers above, we'll have approx 400lb additional payload. If I read all the numbers correctly, our existing TV will suffice for our needs in pulling the 310GK-R. The TV is paid off and really don't want to upgrade to a dually at this time. Our plans are to F/T a little after the house sells and CG host for a few months at a time per CG meaning that the coach will be primarily parked and only towed from one location to the other. We have our first CG hosting position this summer out in Colorado! We're not the kind of campers that like to move very frequently. We see too many you-tubers that are constantly on the go and that's just not our particular lifestyle. To each their own.

A big welcome to @gsmithrr and @Robert E. Again, these are my real world, load for travel numbers. Your numbers will vary depending on how you pack and your tanks. I see you are both fairly new to posting here. I recommend you use the search function (upper right box just above "Advanced search") and enter "310GK weight". There has been a lot of good discussion and real world number from multiple members on this vary topic. Of course there are wide range of opinions on the minimum truck required for this trailer . Again, only you can decide what you are comfortable with.
Chris
PS We really like our 310GK. Very comfortable and usable for the two of us. This is our 1st trailer and (2020) will be our 3rd year. 113 nights and 11,000+ miles and going strong. Hope you enjoy yours as much as we have ours.Last edited by CoChris; 02-14-2020 at 10:42 PM.
