    What Generators are you using?

I recently sold my Honda EU3000, mainly because it was heavy as a sack of lead. I am a Honda fan and have owned many of their product's over the years. However I am looking at the Powerhorse at Northern tool because I will probably only be using these a couple times a year. Does anyone have any experience with these? Particularity running in tandem, I was hoping that they could handle one A/C unit along with simple stuff such as lights and phone chargers. I understand that a 2nd A/C, Microwave, Hairdryer ect would be a problem.

I had a Honda EU 3000i that I used in my previous Reflection, you're right its to heavy to load/unload by yourself. I traded it almost even for 2 new Honda 2200 inverter ones. When run in parallel they run 1 15K a/c and everything else just fine. I have the onboard Onan so these are just backup and to play around with etc. The little ones are super quiet and bullet proof.

Triple Honda 2000. Also have the Onan 5.5 but run the Hondas for 6000 watts most of the time. The Hondas use less gas and I can run 1, 2, or 3 as needed during the day. Also have the hondas hooked to the RV fuel station so I don't have to refill fuel.

Do you wire all three generators in parallel? Cool! How?

You are probably asking me but not sure. Quote the comment and then ask the question.

How do you connect your 3 generators? It sounds like the answer to my dilemma.

There’s a guy on YouTube that shows how.

@sgrol60, I have two Eu2200i gennys that work great for one air conditioner. I'm curious how you link a third. Did you make a special cable? I have only found the two genny parallel cable available. I would love to see a diagram of your setup.

First off my generators are Eu2000 so there may be some differences. I looked at where the parallel cord supplied by Honda hooked into the generator. It connects hot to hot, neutral to neutral, and ground to ground. So the banana plugs are the same as the two slots on the 15 amp plugs on the generator. I wired a box with a 50 amp receptacle with three cords with male 120 volt plugs on them. All hots are connected together and go to both hot legs of the 50 amp receptacle. All neutrals are tied together and are connected to the 50 amp neutral. The grounds are all tied together and go to the ground on the 50 amp. Plug in the 120 v plugs from the box into 1 or 3 generators' 120 volt receptacles. I start and kill the generators as the need for power dictates. You can, as far as I know, parallel as many as you want. If I am only using one or two generators I protect the unused male plugs as they will be hot and dangerous to the touch. I also tied neutral and ground together on the 50 amp receptacle (neutral ground bond) so the Progressive Industries EMS won't complain. And, btw, throw the Honda parallel wires away, you won't need them anymore. Click image for larger version.

Ever since Honda's patent for their generators expired, everyone is making inverter generators BUT... there are differences in manufacture that made purchasing any of these unlikely to me.
I know Honda's are more expensive but to me, they're worth the added cost for reputation and longevity, IMO..

I have two Eu2200i like many others here. I like that I can run one for most needs and start the other when A/C is required.
Also, I've found that the 15K A/C runs fine on Eco Mode (which is even more quiet) and the RPM's will only jump slightly when compressor engages.

Always kept in the truck bed chained to hitch... so no lifting.

When running I cover the units with 2- 16" X 5' length of plywood wt styrofoam glued to it (as an added sound dampener).

    Placed
on truck rails and tailgate up you can hardly hear them., nor can your neighbors !!
