Long bed, hands down. You don't ever have to worry about hitting the cab, it's more stable, and it's honestly not that much different to drive. I went from a 5.5 bed to a 6.5 bed to an 8. The only difference is parking in the airport, you need to be on an end because you stick out too far. Other than that, it's really totally a non issue, especially if you get a 450. The turning radius of my 8' bed 450, at least seat of the pants, feels better than my 5.5 F150 did.

I have never pulled with a short bed, but I can say "long bed" working well for me hossing the RV around. I have a long bed DRW, so I can relate to
the parking and tight space comments when unhooked and getting around. Before this RV, all my trucks have been short bed. PS I'm using the 3220 Anderson Hitch.

What about the Reese Sidewinder with Rotating Turret. Puts the point of rotation back 21" from the king pin.

No adjustments or moving anything....up to 90 degree turns with a shortbed.....
