PDI with disc brake option
Hi all - There's a separate discussion regarding pulling the drums off of brand new units to check for leaking grease seals, etc. which got me wondering. . . . My soon-to-be built 310GK will be coming with the disc brake option already installed. Is there anything specific on those disc brakes I should be looking for during my PDI? One thought was jacking up one side of the trailer and spinning the tire manually to see if there's any looseness. Then pull the emergency cable to ensure they lock up. Then while they're jacked up, hook up to the truck and hit the brake pedal to ensure they function. If there's a leaking grease seal, will I be able to see that without disassembling the rotor? Anything else I should add to my PDI list specifically for the disc brake option? Thanks!

A grease seal leak will be visible from the back side of the rotor. Tug test should tell you the rest

Also, the greased brakes problems were with Lippert axles and hubs several years ago. GD has switched to Dexter axles and hubs and I've not read about any issues since the switch.

I would recommend an infrared thermometer and check for significantly different temps on the rotors after a few medium hard stops. A rotor that is significantly different than the others would indicate a problem.
