New Reflections 337RLS Owner with Question

Well, I've been here for a while reading and more recently asking some questions but today my wife and I purchased a 2015 337RLS. We're very excited and it should be arriving next week or the first week of January.

I do have a question of 337 owners. Has anyone added an inverter for the entertainment center yet? I have a 1000W Pure Sine Wave inverter I am taking out of my old trailer and will be adding it but since the entertainment area is in a slide and the TV is behind a panel, I'm wondering how I will wire it. Any insight would be appreciated. My old trailer was apiece of cake to run the wire from the inverter in the front storage compartment into the trailer to a new outlet but this looks more complex.

    Thanks

    Hi Paul,

I added a 1500 W inverter to our 2014 337. I added a sub panel and put the two circuits I wanted in the sub panel. I found the outlets in the kitchen/entertainment slide including the Refrigerator are on one circuit and the rest of the outlets are on another circuit. I think I have all the outlets now on Inverter, but I have not checked them all. When I use the inverter I force the Refrigerator to gas. I wanted the Microwave on the inverter, but that is not the way it works right now. I will need to change the sub panel to one with three breakers if I want to do that.

I mounted the inverter on the panel in the pass through that is right behind the batteries for a short DC cable run and ran the romex for the 120vac to the sub panel that is just above the controller power panel where the breakers and fuses are. Were I to do it again, I would probably put the sub panel in the basement which would make it a lot cleaner installation, but a PITA if you need to throw a breaker. Inverter is on the bus that is switched with the master battery switch so it is not on all the time. I also installed a automatic transfer switch so the circuits will be powered by shore power when it is available.

    Does this make sense?

    Thanks,
    George

OMG, that's way over my head My setup was so simple but I don't see being able to do that again but yours sounds like a job for someone with way more skill than I have.

In my last trailer I mounted the inverter on the wall next to the batteries than ran a 14G wire into the trailer and installed a whole new OEM style double outlet behind the TV. I wired the outlet directly to the inverter. The inverter has a remote control so when we are off shore power I just unplug my TV, Blu-ray and soundbar from shore power and plug them into the new outlet and turn the inverter on. Simple dimple. I may have to pay someone to do something like you have done but I don't want the fridge to switch over.

    Thanks for the info George!

    Paul,

It is not as hard as it sounds. If you only wanted one circuit, the slide circuit, you could just put in an automatic transfer switch on the one circuit. I did not want to run new wires on the slide so chose to use the whole circuit and force the fridge to gas.

I'll just plug my trailer into shore power. We seldom camp anywhere without 50 amp service anyway. The solar power option gets a little complicated.

I'm glad that option works for you. We spend a great deal of time camping in locations that do not have hookups. The inverter in our outgoing trailer has been awesome for us. We've gotten to the age where we don't want a campfire every night
