Weights RAM SRW + S Class 2930RL Cat Scales

Got my weights on our new 2930RL ... plugged in here http://www.towingplanner.com/ActualW...5280&w2da=3040 ... So truck and 5ver were loaded to camp full tank gas wife 2 pups ... I had more than I usually carry in bed of the truck so pin weight looks a little high about 250-300 lbs firewood in bed of truck ... Click image for larger version.

ID:	25005 .... so here is how my capacities line up for my Ram 3500 SRW 2019 long bed .... my GVWR for truck is 12300 actual 11560 leaving available payload of 740 lbs ... combine truck & trailer GCWR 12300 + 15000 = 27300 actual GCWR is 21880 leaving available 5420 lbs ..... Steer axle rated 6000 actual 5260 and drive axle 7000 actual 6300 .. plenty of room with the 7000 lb axles on the 5th wheel ... trailer GVWR is 15000 actual is 13580 which shows we loaded about 2000 lbs ... fresh tank had about 30 gallons which is what I travel with ... we do do have washer/dyer or generator .... pin weight at 3260 24% is about 250 to 300 lbs high because of firewood way more than I usually carry in bed of truck ... I think average trip pin will be under 3000 .... so all numbers are well under capacities ... please note my SRW 3500's 12300 GVWR is the key number making it able to tow a Solitude... I myself would not consider any 5th wheel with a GVWR over 15000 and even then if you add washer/dryer and generator you will probably be over weight ... if you shop for a SRW to tow look for a GVWR of 12300-12500 and match it to the right 5th wheel .... later Frank

@frank4711 good to see that you have lots of margin with the Solitude. My wife and I at some point are planning on trading up to either a Reflection or Solitude 5th wheel and based on your weights looks like it is a good plan with our truck.

was our first 2 nights in 2930 ... all good no surprises it was cold so we used the fireplace and heat pump both worked great ... truck pulled and stopped with little effort ... love the exhaust brake on the Ram I set it to auto and it helps stop us as soon as I touch the brake very smooth operation... 1500 rpm at 65 mph truck has not down shifted yet while in cruise control 11-12 mpg .... we will upgrade the toilet seat and maybe new mattress we have a 3" foam topper so not too bad but without it that is a hard mattress ... brother in law recommended covering inside of frosted glass inserts in cabinet doors with clear 3m film he said they scratch easy if something hits it from shelf on inside while driving he has 310 and scraped all frost of of his and replaced with new frost film .... floor plan is exceptional so much room around bed and bathroom is big amazing storage/pantry ... later Frank

    Frank,

My wife and I are looking at GD fifth wheels and I love the solitude over the reflection. My biggest issue is weight. My tow vehicle is a F-350 diesel, 4WD, long bed, single rear wheel. I have been reading SO many posts and pages about tow capabilities and have to say that your breakdown was the easiest for me to understand. So thanks for that! We may end up spending the extra money on the solitude 2930RL now that I feel confident that it will be within the capabilities of our truck. Thanks!

Just make sure that your F350 has that high of a GVWR. Prior to the 2020 model year, Ford's F350 SRW was still at a GVWR of 11,500 lb

Whoops! My F350 is a 2014, so 11,500 is my GVWR. I was assuming if I weight the truck and take the actual ratings of the axles (6k front, 7k rear) is 13k. My loading information (yellow sticker) says do not exceed 3177. I know it is close, maybe I am hoping for the best! Lol

Yes .... Those weights included 300 lbs firewood in bed of truck, full tank gas, 60 gallons fresh, wife and 2 pups. So I still had 800 lbs available payload so with 11500 GVWR it could still work with careful loading. later Frank
