Spare tire

Just picked up my Reflection 320MKS. It came with Goodyear Endurance tires (good job GD). The spare tire I noticed this weekend is a Westlake. WHAT??? That doesn't make sense. Does it??

Yes. If they had left over Westlakes, they'd use them as spares.

We purchased Endurance tires to replace our original Westlakes, but not the spare - it's still a westlake.

Glad to see they are doing away with the problematic Westlakes. We did the same thing, replaced the Westlakes with the Goodyears, spare still the Westlake.

I did the same, put the Westlake as a spare. To me the spare just needs to get me to a place I can replace the troublesome tire with a matching tire.

It makes since if your the company trying to reduce cost. I'm in the process of purchasing a 320MKS and was inspecting the trailer yesterday and also found the spare was a Westlake. Guess if I need to use it, I'll only use it to drive to a tire store to buy another Goodyear.

Lol! It is no different in the automotive world. Even when you opt for a full-size spare, you get an econo tire on a steel wheel these days. Few folks run spares in regular rotation in this century, and makers know it and the bean counters collect a couple extra dollars on units sold. I would keep the Westlake under the premise of typical spare use - get me going till the next tire shop and concern myself with making sure my spare gets regular maintenance of topping off the air and a coat of 303. Then when time to re-shoe for age or miles next, change them all then.

what size GY did they put on your 320MKS? Looking to change my tires out on our 320MKS and was wondering if they changed the original size from the 2018 models.

They are ST235/80R16's.

On that note, I lowered my spare tire for routine maintenance and note a substantial size hole in the bottom cover where the cable comes through. 5-6" diameter. The spare hangs down below the cover and is well within jumping distance of a red squirrel. NOT GOOD! I made a disc that attaches to the wheel of the spare and covers all the holes. Now I can sleep tonight. :-)

Good to know, don't want those pesky critters roaming around in the underbelly. They can do sustantial
damage.
