TT comes with a 50amp but most sites are 30amp

Would like to hear your opinions please, my TT came with a 30ft 50amp but 95% of the sites will be 30amp. Should I ditch the 50amp cable and just go with some different lengths of 30amp and of course then dog bone. Or pretty much ditch the 50amp cable all together and buy different lengths of 30amps instead and only pull out the 50 for those odd occasions.

I would keep it.Most times you wouldn't need it but you could also run into a situation where the pole at the campground where you could have a problem with the 30 amp portion of the hookup. Like a breaker is going bad. you could then go to the 50 amp. These cables are expensive. You can always use it with an adapter with the 30 amp cable say where you need the extra length to reach the pole.

You have several good options. You can get a 50-30 amp adapter and use the 50amp cord or get a lighter weight 30 amp cord with an adapter. If I was 95% sure the camp sites were 30 amp, I personally would use a 30 amp cord. Lighter weight and easier to handle.

Lori - the feedback from Gary and Brian matches what we do. We use a 30 cord and adapter at the RV most of the time where we know we will not need the 50 amp to run both AC units. Much lighter and easier to handle than the 50 amp cord. Much much cheaper to replace than a 50 amp as well if forgotten, stolen, damaged, etc.

We have a 2800bh. Everything runs fine on 30A, in fact, we haven't had any problem running on 20A if we're careful. I have a 15' and 30' 30A cord and a 50A to 30A dogbone. That 50A cord is a bear. I store it out in the barn where it will stay.

I don't have a second AC, so everything runs off of 30 amp just fine. I've never used my 50 at a campground (although I carry it). A fancy Camco adapter for the fitting on the side of the trailer, and then the 30 amp run. Also lets me use my old Progressive surge protector, that I got for my 30 amp prior RV, so didn't have to buy a new one of those, etither.

Same here. I almost always use just 30 amp. Much easier to handle. But I do carry the 50 amp just in case.
