Others have posted - again depending on specifics, just leave the hitch attached to the trailer, but undo it's mounts to the truck. Raise the trailer to lift the hitch, and drive out, leaving the hitch still attached to the trailer pin box.

I have a Curt A16 hitch. I built a cart out of 2x4's and plywood, the same height as the tailgate on casters. I just climb up on the truck and pull the hitch off the cart and lock it in. 2 - 3 minutes tops. Not bad at all. I don't leave the hitch in the truck when not camping.

Andersen Ultimate weighs 35 pounds and takes <5 minutes to remove.

After much research and speaking to countless owners, it was a no brainer.

    Good luck!

The Reese Goosebox and the AUH win 1st and 2nd prizes for being easiest to remove (least bed impact). In addition, B&W makes excellent fifth-wheel hitches that can be separated into two pieces and removed by one person. I certainly wouldn't call the AUH a no-brainer given the competition. Each option has advantages.

IMO a Hitch that is "good enough" is not. The AUH is just that, "good enough" B&W hitch, vastly underrated, made with real steel and great welds. Real tough to make a strong hitch that does not have weight to it, and be able to survive a worse case scenario, like a collision. JMO.

There are other considerations in a hitch in addition to construction quality. I prefer air bag hitches that both make the ride in the truck smoother but also smooth the ride out for the RV as well. Each person needs to decide what is most important to them. For many, it's weight and cost. That's why the Andersen is so popular. It's light and inexpensive.

A hitch rated for 24k is a bit more than "good enough". If you don't like Aluminum because it weighs less than steel, don't buy one.

Next thing you know they’ll be making 747s out of aluminum. Crazy!

Anderson all the way, smooth ride no noise or grease to mesh with. Like others have said, remove it with one hand, no hoist needed. Mine is hanging on the wall till next week.

    Good luck in your decision.
