    3550 S-Class

    Hello everyone,

We are looking at the 3550. I don't see much on the forum regarding this model. I know its brand new, but wondering if anyone out there has this model and of course wondering how its going? It seems to be a 2930RL with double bunks in the back. For us it fits our family perfectly, but since its so new I of course have reservations of possibly being a beta tester. We appreciate any feedback anyone can provide.

@geotex1 - Rob and Nikki have had a 3350 for some time. They have shared a number of very good posts and may be open to sharing some feedback for you. If you do not hear from them you may want to send a PM to them.

Thanks, in advance, Rob and Nikki !

I have searched the forum in the recent past and nothing really comes up on the 3550.

We spent a couple of hours last Friday crawling through the 3550. We also walked through the 3740, 3950, a 377, 381, 395, 397 and two other Solitudes with front living. Like you, the 3550 fits our family the best and offers room to grow for our kids. The 3550 was the first on our list, but the salesman couldn't find it, so we toured all of the other models first. Finally found the 3550 in the sold lot (mistakenly parked there) and toured it last. As soon as we walked in, my wife said, "this is the one". So did the kids. Had kids try the bunks in all, and they went with the 3550, too. We discussed the positives and negatives of the 3550. The negatives were few, but included rear storage compartment that would not be accessible with our current bike rack (swing arm rack might work, but none are rv rated), outside kitchen leaves a little to be desired compared to the one in our current 312bh or the 3740bh, and no MoRyde pinbox option. The latter is okay though, would probably go with the Reese Goosebox anyway.

When we got home, I started looking into the pricing we were quoted if we were to order a 3550. The GD website does not yet have a build and price feature for the 3550. I do have a price/order sheet from the dealer, but the base pricing on it (has 2930, 3550, 3740 and 3950 models on it) is about $5000-$6000 more than what shows on the GD website for the 2020 models that do have the build and price feature. Furthermore, all of the options on the price sheet are at least 10-15% higher. In fact, for the two 3740s on the dealer's lot, I used the build and price feature on the GD website and compared to the dealer's advertised MSRP - they were the same. But when using the price sheet I was given by the salesman, the prices on both 3740s ended up being ~$6750-7000 higher than the advertised MSRP. For the 3550, I compared the price sheet total price to the MSRP listed on the dealer's website for the in-stock unit. Again, $7000 more. I have yet to speak with the salesman to understand the pricing discrepancy.

After writing all of that, not sure that helps you in the least.

Correction: after finding a 2020 order sheet provided by Steve at Schaeffers RV and comparing, MSRP is $10,000 more based upon the order sheet I was given by the dealer with a selling price difference of around $7000. That’s before any negotiations. What’s up with that?

It is a very nice floorplan that I can see being very popular. Especially with families that have grown kids where the double sized bunks will be a big asset!
