It's been noted that the virus can survive for up to 9 days on inanimate surfaces aka CASH !!

The point with washing your hands is to kill the germs that one has picked up before you happen to touch your face. So washing your hands before eating.

Going on a vacation would be a better place for us. I fix coin washers and dryers at colleges and apt laundry rooms. GERMS, GERMS, GERMS. I rarely get sick because I use gloves whenever possible.

    Ram,
That point is quite obvious....what I'm saying is if the virus is in your environment, it is easy to become exposed, even by the air around it.
    Airborne pathogen sound familiar ??
Secondly, the incubation period makes actual awareness that it even exists in your surroundings tenuous.

    Orbiker...
I agree, especially concerning this novel virus that no one has researched thoroughly yet.
The methods of contraction aren't fully understood.
IF folks get lured into believing merely washing hands before eating will protect them, my concern is they will not be vigilant to other forms of transmission.

No changes at all for us. If I was to worry about getting sick, I would be FAR more worried about getting the seasonal flu...

"CDC estimates that so far this season there have been at least 32 million flu illnesses, 310,000 hospitalizations and 180,000 deaths from flu, the CDC's weekly Influenza Surveillance Report said as of February 22, 2020"

Whenever I fly I always get sick. We spend so much time in wilderness/rural areas away from huge populations that we don't get the little bugs that build up our immune system. I am really happy to see so many level headed responses here.

We will be working with the general public quite a bit this summer, tulip festival, kayak guides, campground hosts. We won't be changing our plans. We will bathe, brush our teeth, and wash our hands.

SOP for us, virus or not! We’ve not been to even a movie theater in years.
