Furrion 10A Solar Charging Port
The Furrion charging port on our 27BHS says “Solar charge 10A”. Does that mean I’m limited to solar panels where the IMP specification is 10A or less? Another way to ask the same question, does the “10A” on the plug housing correspond to the IMP specification on solar panels?
Our 27BHS thankfully came with a Furrion charging port. Unfortunately, the Furrion solar panels recommended in another thread are $500 for a 95W suitcase set of panels and a controller. As a comparison, there is a set of 200W Dokio panels and controller on Amazon for $240; 100w set w/controller is $149. Even if the Dokio’s last only 2-3 seasons, they are a much better value. Even after I make a converter to fit the Furrion plug, Dokios are a much better value! Renogy makes a competitive product too!
The 100W Dokio set has an IMP specification of 6.1A
The 200W Dokio set has an IMP specification of 11.12A
In addition to being MUCH less expensive, the Dokios are foldable, take less room and weigh 12lbs.
Thanks in advance!Last edited by RvReno; 03-02-2020 at 05:53 PM.

The connector is rated 20A.

The Furrion port specs say 10A. It does have 12 Awg pigtails soldered to it.

Thanks Gene - Some really great help!
When looking at the specs for panel and controller kits, does the IMP specification refer to the output amps of the controller or the output of the panels?
I'm looking at this kit

With your help I also found an adaptor that will conenct the charging port to SAE. Hopefully it helps somebody else down the road.

The Imp is the current output produced by the panels at maximum power point, and feeds into the solar charger controller.

Weighs over 40lbs when the soft type is usually less than 10lbs.

I did some digging around in the front cap, and I can't find any evidence of an inline fuse. In fact, it looks like it's attached directly to the main stub that goes to the battery and the rest of the RV. The cable is red/white and is a 12-gauge cable, so it's capable of 20 amps. I get my new 200W solar suitcase next week so I'll find out really quickly if there is a hidden fuse...

My fuse is really obvious, inline type, right behind the jack. Good luck and keep us posted!

This port is designed to be used with portable/suitcase panels with builtin or portable chargers. It should be fused as close to the power source as possible, ie: the charger itself.
