    337 RLS Towing Question

First off I would like to say hello and I'm looking forward to being on the Grand Design Fourm.
We presently Have a 2018 Rockwood TT . We are really looking hard at a Reflections 337 RLS for our retirement Camper.
My big question is we just got our 2018 F 250 6.2 373 gears and 3,200 Payload last year. Would this truck be able to handle the
337 RLS untill we get ready to travel more, we are still working and usually do 1 maybe 2 week long vacations around 300 to 500 mile trips and then some weekend local stuff. I really think the 7.3 1 ton would be a good set up for this camper I just would like to see it prove it self for a couple years before we trade truck.

FYI - We are in flat land country of indiana.

    Thank you

Short answer - no. Longer answer... from the available payload on your truck, you must subtract the weight of the hitch (50 lbs. for an Anersen Ultimate, 250 lbs. for something like the PullRite OE 18K, and 350 lbs. + for a good auto-slider if you have a short bed truck), fuel, occupants, accessories, and anything else you put in the truck. That's going to get you down in the 2,500 - 2,800 lb. range for payload. Then, the 337, loaded, often puts 3,000 lbs. or more on the pin (we pulled a 337 over 35,000 miles in 4.5 years). I would recommend against pulling a 337 with your truck - others will disagree and you will see people doing it - doesn't make it safe or smart.

I have to agree with Second Chance. I pulled my 337 for a bit with a 3/4 ton. It wasn't fun and I wouldn't do it again. I now have a 1 ton, haven't pulled with it yet, that's going to happen in a few weeks; yay spring!

We looked at the 337. My 2011 F-250 6.7 tips the scales at #8300 loaded with fuel and passengers. I simply did not have the weight to give.

I'm towing a 2020 337 with a 2019, F250 6.7L Lariat. Actual 337 pin weight from GD build sheet was 2208lbs dry. I added RideRite bags w/F3 compressor system. Am I over specs: yes. Does it bother me: NO. After adding air bags, truck tows and handles amazing w/12mpg fuel economy. I made this towing decision after 20+ years of towing 20k boats. I'm sure the 'truck weight police" are having a mini stroke right now, but educate yourself and make your own decision. I'm also using an AUH in my 6 3/4' bed with the coupler turned aft, plenty of turning radius and I find that I'm hooked up and leaving the campsite in half the time as people with traditional 5th wheel hitches. Good luck and you won't be disappointed with the 337!
